HQ of the 1916 Rising in Dublin is our first stop on the tour The GPO, or General Post Office, in Dublin, Ireland, was the central site of the 1916 Easter Rising, a rebellion against British rule. Led by figures like Patrick Pearse and James Connolly, Irish republicans aimed to establish an independent Irish Republic. The rebels seized key locations, including the GPO, proclaiming the Irish Republic. Despite fierce fighting, the uprising failed due to lack of public support and British military strength. The GPO's symbolic significance endured, and the Easter Rising contributed to the eventual establishment of the Irish Free State and Republic of Ireland.

One of the funniest, insightful historical tours I ever took!

Donald recited poetry, the PRO, proclamation of independence and gave incredibly funny details about Dublin, the revolution, the complicated history, the pubs and the changes in the last 50 years. He was entertaining and funny and full of quirky titbits about this amazing town. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would highly recommend. Penelope

A great afternoon and a pint

Donal really knows his stuff - certified, expert in history, culture, literature, poetry, whisky and beer! He is super personable and funny and he read our vibe and immediately felt like a friend. We had a great time and highly recommend My Journey Ireland.

Crawling the countryside with Donal.

Spent the better part of a week on a tour of this most amazing Ile with one of the best guides I have had in my many adventures. His local knowledge and historical perspective blends well with his humor and love of county. He arranged meals, entertainment, and of course, libations all with out a hitch. Managing a large group or small, his conection with both young and old was most enjoyable. We even got several serenades of traditional irish folk music on our travels. A capella. I left the trip wishing we had more time to explore and enjoy. To my family and I, we started with a tour guide and ended with a friend. The best compliment you can give is a referral and upon my return I have done so many times. Slàinte Donal, Thanks for sharing your island, towns and culture with us. We shall return Warning or a promise, you decide.

Knowledgeable and fun

Our family just had the most amazing week with Donal. He gave our group many interesting facts while also making the trip fun with his humor. If he didn't know an answer to a question, he made a point to discover the answer. I really do hope you visit the states in 2029 and make a detour to connect with us Ohioans for a few days. We truly just made a distant lifelong friend. 'Who has the best bus?' 'We have the best bus.' And last but not least, since you are no longer permitted to say it, 'my graveyard'.

Highly recommend!

Donal is a fantastic guide, very knowledgeable with a great sense of humour (and lots of little anecdotes)! It was lovely to have a chat with him over a pint at the end of the tour.
