Half-day Himeji Castle Town Bike Tour with Lunch

After meeting at Himeji Station, we will collect our bicycles and proceed to the shopping street in the castle town. There, we will visit a Japanese sweets shop with a history spanning over 300 years and sample "Tamatsubaki," a refined Japanese confection that was once presented to feudal lords within the castle. We will then explore the magnificent Himeji Castle, also referred to as Shirasagi-jo, meaning "White Egret Castle." After ascending to the summit of Himeji Castle, we will cycle through the historic castle town and savor a Japanese lunch at a restaurant located in the castle town. We'll then proceed to a shrine that offers picturesque spot for capturing beautiful photographs of Himeji Castle. Relax and enjoy a cup of tea in Kokoen, a beautiful Daimyo garden. After exploring the shrine, we will cycle once more around Himeji Castle, heading to the picturesque Kokoen Garden. Following a leisurely cup of tea at a café within the garden, we will make our way back to the station.

Well worth it!

Chie was an EXCELLENT guide. She was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and an excellent host. We learned so much more than we would have if we self guided. And bikes were a great way to get around.

Great Tour with guide Ayu.

Great tour with Ayu who was very helpful and flexible, allowing us to change the plan as we had already visited the castle the previous day. Ayu was very knowledgeable about the area and all about Japanese culture. Cycling was probably easier than walking in the heat, especially as the area is so flat.

Top notch tour - even better guide

Excellent tour. Loved the castle and all the information about its spectacular defences. Guide had amazing knowledge of Japanese history, castles, the families who lived there, the historical context of Japan at those times, very kind, patient, friendly. The gardens were beautiful, enjoyed Japanese sweets, the tea ceremony was beautiful, and again, all made so much richer with the detailed information and historical context from the guide. 10/10. Couldn’t recommend this tour enough. Thank you.

Inspiring and entertaining

The bike tour to Himeji Castle was interesting, varied, and entertaining. Ayaka explained a lot to us and was happy to address our questions. And she took us to an excellent restaurant for lunch! It was great, would love to do it again!
