Itinerary
Your day starts by driving from Reykjavik to the historic site of Þingvellir National Park. This was the venue for the Icelandic parliament from 930 till 1798 and is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, both for it´s rich history and amazing nature. This is also where the American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet which creates an amazing feeling having one foot in each world.
Pass by: Laugarvatn sits next to a beautiful lake of the same name in a geothermally active area. The plumes of super-heated vapor billowing into the air in this area are used by the locals to bake rye bread in the ground!
Known throughout the world for it´s power and beauty, Geysir has become a synonym for this amazing show of nature. Strokkur, another hot spring, sits nearby and is very active, erupting to heights up to 30 meters every few minutes. Follow one of many paths and enjoy steaming springs bubbling all around you. In the Geysir Area you will also have time to buy lunch or some snacks.
Next on the agenda is the waterfall Gullfoss - the Golden Waterfall. One of the most popular attractions is Iceland, Gullfoss will amaze you with it´s raw power and beauty, plummeting down 32 meters into a rugged canyon.
Pass by: Small town with lots of Greenhouses
These three attractions complete the classic Golden Circle - but to add even more to your experience - we also stop at the spectacular Kerid Volcanic Crater. This 3000 year old crater is 55 meters deep and offers a unique view of the beauty of the Icelandic nature.
Pass by: On the way back to Reykjavík tour goes via Geothermal Area in Hveragerði, packed with famous greenhouses powered by green energy and horse farms. After a short drive through mountain pass you will also see Hellisheiði Geothermal Power Plant.

Good trip, AWFUL guide
Sadly, our guide on the Golden Circle tour Walter was dreadful. He talked at full volume thorough out the day without taking breath. Which would have been fine if it was information about the island, the sites, the history, the geography etc. But it wasn't. It was a continual stream of verbal garbage mostly comprising whoop-whoops, silly voices, bad 'jokes' (repeated again and again), comments about other nationalities, football etc and very frequent ascertains about how he himself was 'amazing', 'a legend', and 'awesome'. There was some interesting information included, but the rest of the gibber-jabber made it difficult to filter out the good info. By the end of the first hour I wanted to rip my ears off! I suggest you ask for another guide or go elsewhere if you want to appreciate the beautiful and spectacular scenery of this amazing county.
Wonderful tour!
This was a fantastic day trip from Reykjavik! Our tour guide was Þóra (thor-ay). Þóra shared tons of interesting information with us about each of the stops on the tour. She also shared a lot with us about Icelandic culture and her personal experiences living in Iceland. Use the crampons when they're offered by your guide! Our pickup location was Hallgrimskirkja, so was super easy to get to. The tour company had also posted a helpful video on Instagram of which side of the church to wait at for pickup. Our first stop was Thingvellir National Park, which we loved! You get see and walk between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. There was good signage throughout the park and Þóra pointed out lots of notable locations for us to check out. Bathrooms are available here. Our next stop was Geysir which was beautiful, but there wasn't a ton of time to walk to the very top. The restuarant at Geysir had good food and ATM. We had the fish stew with bread per Þóra's recommendation and very much enjoyed it, even though we don't normally eat a lot of fish. Bathrooms and a gift shop were available here. We stopped to see Icelandic horses at a nearby farm after this, which Þóra arranged herself since it wasn't part of our planned tour. The horses were adorable and Þóra gave us treats to feed them, which was so fun! Then we went to a beautiful waterfall, which was one of our favorite parts of the tour. After the waterfall, we stopped at Kerid crater and walked down inside of it. Definitely worth it to see the crater! We dropped a few people off at a hotel who were doing the two-day tour and drove back to Reykjavik where we dropped people off at the Sky Lagoon before returning to our drop off location. We did the Sky Lagoon independently, but adding that onto this tour would have very convenient. Our experience with Nicetravel was great!
Iceland
Filip was an awesome tour guide. Lots of good information give. Good amount of time to see the sights. Great song Playlist. There is a lot of hiking so be prepared, waterproof clothes as well!
A truly “golden” golden circle trip.
Fillip was a fantastic tour guide. Super funny, down to earth, and knowledgeable. He even brought us to a few extra spots to get ice cream and meet Icelandic horses. He’s a great DJ as well! We loved the Nordic music, especially Eivor. Would definitely recommend!
Golden circle Tour - Small Group
Excellent. Our tour and driver Addi engaged the group with interesting stories and questions about Iceland and the places we visited.
