Itinerary
Your day will start when your guide picks you up at your hotel and accompanies you to a TransMilenio station, Bogotá’s main public transport system. Alternatively, depending on the option you choose, you will meet your guide directly at the meeting point. From there, you will begin your journey south to the next stop.
At the station, you will take the Metrocable, which connects more remote areas with main routes. From the Metrocable, you will enjoy the best views of the different neighborhoods or communes, while your guide will explain their history and current situation.
You will explore the neighborhood with your guide. You will visit a small museum, discover local gardens, and walk along the main boardwalk. During this time, you will learn about the artistic initiatives that have helped transform this area and the future projects related to culture You will enjoy the most privileged views of southern Bogotá and take as many photos as you wish from different viewpoints, which will show other communes and their distance from the city. You will also take the opportunity to sample local snacks and support the community’s entrepreneurs.
At the end of the day, you will take the Metrocable back and then the Transmilenio. After this journey, your driver will take you back to your hotel, having had one of the most authentic experiences Bogotá offers.

Traveler reviews
Excellent experience.
We loved the experience. It is a different activity that teaches us about the diversity we can find just a short distance from the city. Sará was an excellent resource to show us the history behind this community. She is attentive, friendly, and demonstrates her knowledge and commitment to ensuring the tour was to our liking. We felt confident and safe at all times.
Eye-opening experience
The southern neighborhoods of Bogota are the most populous and least wealthy part of this vibrant city without the traditional tourist attractions. El Paraiso in one such section, the terminus of the Transmicable, a cable car skyway that connects several hilly Cuidad Bolivar in the southern neighborhoods to the rest of the city. We learned so much on this tour from our guide, Alex, who lives nearby, about the history of Bogota, the political and economic struggle the southern residents fought to get services, and how they now move with dignity and speed on the skyway from their homes to where so many work in the north. (More cable lines need to be constructed to serve more neighborhoods!!) You don’t feel like an outsider visiting a slum on this tour. The people here are justifiably proud of all they have accomplished and their continued economic development. They want you to come and see. The streets we toured near the cable car station are very well kept and have stunning graffiti art. The view of the city is expansive, magnificent, and colorful. We felt safe at all times, although using the system is not totally straightforward, meaning going with a guide is better than going solo.
Our best Bogota experience
Despite doing a bit digging, I came across this tour. We were staying in Chapinero which is very beautiful but to me only shows one side of Bogota. We were keen to explore further and El Paraiso provided us a terrific opportunity to see another side of the city. Our guide Alex was very informative and we had the benefit of course of the cable car that takes you to the area. We learnt much about the history, stories behinds the street art and hearing about community initiatives to improve wellbeing of the locals. It was completely safe and I could not recommend it more highly. My only wish could be to go a little deeper into the neighbourhood.
