Itinerary
Pass by: Your expert guide will collect you from your hotel/accommodation or meeting point and will drive you to the Amarante, our first stop. On your way to the Douro Region, your guide will give you insights regarding the Portuguese history, development and cultural facts of portuguese heritage.
Welcome to Amarante! Visitors will be awed by the majestic Serra do Marão and the Tâmega River, the longest tributary of the Douro. Legend says a Roman centurion named Amarantus founded this city, while St. Gonçalo, a Benedictine monk, built its famous bridge in the 13th century. Don't miss the renowned local sweets: papos de anjo, brisas do Tâmega, toucinho do céu, bolos de São Gonçalo, and galhofas.
Our second stop will be about 640 meters high. The lovely São Leonardo da Galafura Viewpoint is located in between Vila Real and Peso da Régua, on a place of Great natural beauty over the amazing Douro River, confirming the excellence of the ancient and historical Trás-os-Montes region. Here, the sights are breathtaking, with the Douro River leading the attentions, trimmed by the steep soils where the famous Douro wine is planted, providing wonderful landscapes.
It's now time for Lunch! Your guide will take you to a local restaurant where you will have a delicious traditional portuguese meal with drinks included. Try some of most traditional portuguese gastronomy pairing with some local Douro table wine. (Vegetarian option during lunch is available, make sure you request it during the booking process)
Pass by: The N222 road, classified as the most beautiful road in the world, guides us along the south bank of the Douro River, for miles of pleasure, fascination and beautiful surroundings into the very heart of the Douro Wine Region.
Time to Sail on a scenic rabelo boat, sided by terraces where the vines that produce ours, and yet so global, Port grow. The vision from the river to both banks, in areas where only vineyards and wine farms exist, is a unique experience.
For an authentic vineyard experience, you will visit a vineyard estate, in the heart of the Douro Valley. Discover the secrets of the vineyards as you take a guided walking tour through the property, stopping at points of interest along the way and taking in the magnificent landscape of the vineyards. During the guided visit, and before returning to Porto, you will also enjoy the unforgettable experience of tasting of different wines.

Great day out
Kiko and our driver took us out for a memorable day in the Douro valley. The meet up was well organised and our first stop was in a lovely village in the valley. We then travelled to a vineyard and tasted three ports which were very different but delicious. Lunch was fabulous with excellent food and free flowing wines in a wonderful house. The grounds were beautifully laid out. We were expertly driven from there to another vineyard to sample their wines and port. At each stage we knew what to look out for and key viewpoints were pointed out to us. The tour was a great introduction to Porto wines and port. It would have been great to be given a bottle of water to clear our palettes between wines or just to stay hydrated during a long day. Thank you gentlemen.

We had a wonderful fun filled day visiting two wineries and a cruise on the Douro River. Ana Awes was our tour guide. She gave us a wonderful experience with so much history of Portugal throughout the days. Definitely book his tour.
Fabulous day in Duoro Valley
We had an incredible day in the Douro Valley and could not have asked for a better tour guide, Carlos Daniel! From start to finish, he was charismatic, funny, and kept us entertained all day with great conversation and energy. He made everyone feel comfortable and turned a wine tasting tour into an experience we’ll genuinely remember. The day was seamless, relaxed, and so much fun. And of course, we can’t leave out our favorite inside joke — best driver ever! 😂 If you’re looking for someone who makes the trip feel like you’re spending the day with a friend, he’s your guy. Highly recommend!
A Wonderful Experience with a Superb Guide!
Luis M was absolutely amazing! My wife and I booked a day trip for our anniversary and were blown away. Everything was top notch: the communication, the information, Luis himself was wonderful, the food delicious, the wine tasting excellent, and the boat ride relaxing. Would absolutely recommend this experience to anyone! We booked a private tour and loved the intimacy it provided. It was also lovely having everything planned and paid for us. Even the small details were perfect, like Luis having a microphone in the van so he could speak normally while watching the road and we could still hear him perfectly.
Beauty and History, with Wine!
Luis M picked us up in downtown Porto, and after collecting the rest of the tour participants, drove us to the valley. Stopping at Amarante for a brief visit, we then toured a working winery in the valley, took a little boat cruise down a back the Douro river, and finally had a late lunch at a hilltop winery. Delicious, and informative! The roads are windy, beware of car sickness, but the entire experience was incredible and informative. Small groups are the way to go, you can make friends, share experiences, and bond over the beauty that is the Portugal countryside!
