Itinerary
Dahshur houses around 30 km from Cairo, around 15 pyramids.
Memphis and Saqqara: Alabaster Sphinx and the colossal statue of Ramses II. The Saqqara necropolis is one of the most important tombs in Lower Egypt, along with Giza.

Great excursion that only very winey ones offer
We were picked up at the hotel on time at 3.50am and taken to the airport. There we had a quite short stay, as our flight to Cairo started at 6 am. In Cairo our guide Hussein was already waiting for us and accompanied us to the air-conditioned vehicle. There we then discussed the course of the tour and there was also the first information about Egyptian culture. Since there were actually only 3 items on the schedule, but we had the whole day, we started in Cairo with a tour of the old town. There we strolled not only along the lemons and copper alley, but also visited small secluded alleys where the guide bought us a mocha. We continued to the Step Pyramid of Sakara. There we got a lecture in the vehicle: 5000 years of Egyptian history in 25 minutes. Afterwards we went to the also imposing buckling pyramid and red pyramid, which you can also enter. Which is very tedious (and we didn't want to take it upon ourselves because of the heat). Unfortunately, not much remains of the former capital Memphis, as most of the building materials were mined and reused to build Cairo. Since we still had plenty of time after a delicious lunch overlooking the Giza pyramids and it was outside temperatures of over 40 degrees, we made another stop at an air-conditioned perfumery. The trip was completed in a shopping center in New Cairo, where we could stroll for another hour. But also just so that we don't have to sit in the airport waiting so long for our flight home. At 8.50 pm our flight back left and around 10.30 pm we were back at our hotel. Conclusion: A great excursion, perfectly organized and a very good German speaking guide. He took a lot of time to show us everything and explain it really well. Thank you Fred and Anja
