Private Loire Valley Château, Cooking Class & Villandry Gardens Tour

Some days in the Loire Valley deserve to be savoured rather than rushed. This exclusive private day tour from Tours blends French heritage, gastronomy and garden artistry into a relaxed, immersive experience led by your dedicated Ophorus driver-guide.

Château d’Azay-le-Rideau: A Renaissance Masterpiece

Travel through the gentle landscapes of the Loire Valley to the elegant Château d’Azay-le-Rideau, one of the region’s most enchanting Renaissance castles. Set on an island in the Indre River, the château appears to float on the water, with its graceful façades beautifully reflected in the surrounding moat.

Enjoy a guided visit through refined salons, grand reception rooms, carved staircases and richly furnished interiors. Discover the history of the families and royal figures who shaped this architectural jewel, while admiring the refined style that makes Azay-le-Rideau one of the most admired Loire Valley châteaux.

Hands-On French Cooking Class Inside the Château

Go beyond a traditional château visit with an exclusive hands-on cooking class held inside the historic kitchens of Château d’Azay-le-Rideau. Under the guidance of a professional chef, prepare a seasonal main course and dessert using fresh, locally sourced ingredients from the Loire Valley.

Learn practical French culinary techniques, regional traditions and chef secrets in a friendly, relaxed setting. This intimate experience offers a genuine taste of French art de vivre, combining local produce, heritage and shared enjoyment around the table.

Gourmet Lunch with Loire Valley Wines

After the cooking class, sit down inside the château to enjoy the dishes you have prepared during a memorable gourmet lunch. Your meal is paired with carefully selected Loire Valley wines, including the region’s celebrated Vouvray, known for its elegant freshness and versatility at the table.

More than a meal, this is an opportunity to experience the pleasure of French gastronomy in an exceptional historical setting. Share your creations, taste regional wines and enjoy the unhurried rhythm of a day designed around flavour, conversation and discovery.

Villandry Gardens: Renaissance Garden Design at Its Finest

In the afternoon, continue to the magnificent Gardens of Villandry, widely considered among the finest Renaissance gardens in France. The gardens are renowned for their formal design, harmonious terraces and striking geometric patterns, creating a living masterpiece that changes with the seasons.

Stroll through ornamental flower beds, decorative vegetable gardens, water features and elegant landscaped terraces. Villandry offers a different yet complementary vision of Loire Valley heritage: one shaped not by stone and architecture alone, but by colour, symmetry, cultivation and landscape design.

Met promptly by the lovely Lea then off to our first stop, Chateau Labert - a mix of tradition & futuristic & naturally, glorious wines. Onto St Emilion for lunch & a wander, s stunning setting of beauty. Two more wine tastings in smaller locations, both being traditional, interesting & again, fabulous wines! Our day was completed with a friendly game of ‘guess the smell’ which was a laugh. A long, enjoyable day of good wine, good company & a great guide! Thank you Lea!
