Itinerary
Pass by: First of all, the tour guide will pick you up at your hotel and he will take you to the comuna 13 to the famous graffities. Along this trip the bilingual local guide will talk to you about metro system, its history and how commuting in Medellín is.
Once there, you will walk along the brick made houses and San Javier neighborhood, understanding the war that terrified its families due to narcotraffic and guerrillas and how this, combined with poverty, made it one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in Latin America in the past.
As the tour gets immersed in the graffiti area, you will get to listen to the history on how a kind of art which started like action of vandalism, even punished with jail, grew into the most iconic features of this comuna. As well as getting an idea on how the neighborhood was and how it is nowadays. After going over the graffiti in depth, you would finish the tour by coming back using metro and remembering that art opens frontiers when nobody else could.

Great experience, we were walked through the Comuna 13 with a guide, who explained all the recent history of the Comuna as well as the evolution up to today's situation. The place is full of artistic expressions all over, and it is 100% safe to walk through the streets as long as you follow what your guide tells you. Really interesting visit and a must-do in Medellin!
