Amazing tour hosted by Paul and Krishna. Kudos to both! They did an excellent job with showing us around and giving information. There was ample time between all the locations and I would say this tour is one of the best one I have done so far. Paul let us be with the baby sheeps for some extra little time which i think was the highlight of my trip. Definitely recommending it to my friends!

A great trip!
Paul was our tour guide. He was very knowledgeable and a friendly guy. He knew a lot not only about our stops but everything in between. Christian was the driver and he was very good. Always courteous of other drivers. This a great trip!

Fun day trip from Dublin
My friends and I booked this tour after having a lovely experience with Niamh and Joe at the Cliffs of Moher and Galway just the day before. Paul and Krishna took us to Kilkenny, Glendalough, and Cullens Sheep Farm. Paul was a very knowledgeable guide and we learned a lot along our drive to each destination. Krishna got us to our destinations safely! It was fun exploring each stop and the Cullens farm was a nice way to end the day.

Cool way to explore the country
Such a fun experience! I'm in Ireland only for a couple of days, but was able to see most of the country with some laughs and some cool facts. The guide, Kevin, is very friendly and funny. The driver, Casper, is a very responsible driver making the trip feel safe. I have nothing bad to say about the experience. I highly recommend!

My trip to the cliffs of moher
OK, the bus truck is fantastic. Our guide is beyond excellent as was the driver. The cliffs are amazing. I have a bad hip and I made it up and down the hills no problem. But if you can’t make it, they do have golf carts to take you up and down. Very, very nice people. I highly highly recommend this trip was excellent. Great fun in Galway too. No facilities on the bus, but the driver stopped three times and that was enough for everyone to get off and go to the bathroom and have a 15 minute break.

A fantastic tour with a wonderful guide and driver
The tour was absolutely fantastic. Our guide, Gillian, was incredibly kind, funny, warm and welcoming. Joe, our driver, was also very friendly. Together, they did an excellent job and made the whole experience truly enjoyable. Everything was explained very clearly, and the punctuality was excellent. I would happily do this tour again and would recommend it without hesitation.

No merece la pena las horas de autobus

Into The West
On our recent trip to Ireland, we tried something new for us. Instead of winging it we prebooked and paid for a couple of day long tours. The first was to the west coast of Ireland visiting the Cliffs of Moher, the Wild Atlantic Wat and the City of Galway. There were a couple of options available to us, and I’m not sure why I finally chose Wild Rover Tours as they all seemed to offer similar prices and itineraries. Perhaps it was because the pickup point was directly in front of our hotel the Gresham on O’Connell St. The pickup time was early enough as it was without having to add more time to get from the hotel to it and therefore having to get out of bed even earlier. Cost was listed at 75 Euros each. We booked and paid online back in Canada and paid $246.16 Canadian. The one advantage I saw of prebooking and paying, aside from ensuring seats, was that by the time the trip happened it was already paid for and didn’t seem like an expense related to this trip. There was of course a free cancelation up to 24 hours prior, and both printable and electronic tickets issued. This was a literal all day tour, with pickup at 6:55am and a drop off back in Dublin scheduled for 7:40pm depending on traffic. The trip advertised and delivered two hours at the Cliffs of Moher and a further two hours in Galway. Adding in the two rest stops of about 30 minutes each that still left almost eight hours on a tour bus. There are some who would suggest that eight hours on a bus for half that time at the actual sites one wants to visit is not worth it. They of course are entitled to that opinion. I examined other options though and discounted them. I decided that for our purposes this represented the best value for money and more importantly time. First renting a car to head to the west coast had its own challenges. Costs including insurance and gas would probably have been almost as much as the tour. And we would still have to contend with entry fees which were included in the tour price. There would have been the fact we were then driving an unfamiliar vehicle, on unfamiliar, and as it turned out very narrow roads and on the wrong side of the road for us. Overall compared to sitting back, relaxing and letting a professional take care of the driving this was a non starter. We could also have opted for using the regional train and or bus systems to visit the places we wanted. Something we in fact did later in the week to visit Tullow to the south of Dublin. While this would have eliminated the stress of driving ourselves, it would still have required some extensive planning to ensure we were on the correct trains, buses etc. Odds are that we would not have been able to see all the things the tour covered in a single day and would have spent most of the time worrying about making the right connections. Splitting it into two separate trips and /or staying overnight on the west coast was not a viable option. We had limited time on this trip and several things we really wanted to do. In the end we decided that this was not just the best possible but the only viable option open. We chose to take this trip on the Tuesday our second full day in Dublin after arriving on Sunday. That left us Monday to recover from the flight and do some limited local sightseeing. Tuesday morning, we were in the lobby sipping coffee when I saw the bus pull up out front and a queue began to form. It turned out we didn’t need to produce either the written copy of the ticket or show it on my phone. Wild Rover staff had all the names on a tablet and checked us off as we lined up to board to ensure everyone was there. I’m not sure if it was the cane strapped to the side of my camera bag, or he was just being nice, but we were directed to the seats just behind the driver. That meant aside from decent leg room and being first off, we enjoyed a panoramic view of Irish countryside all day and I could get some great photos. With everyone aboard and a final head count down we were off. The Wild Rover staff introduced themselves, Jack a cheery and enthusiastic young man was the guide for the day and Sarah the driver. Jack gave us brief bios of them both, including the fact he had recently graduated from Trinity College with a degree in Literature. He then went over the agenda for the day, and some basic ground rules such as not moving about, please be back on the bus on time after stops, and no hot food on the bus. Hot drinks and snacks were fine. I’ll cover the stops including Galway and Cliffs of Moher in separate reviews. This review is more about the trip itself. The eight-hour round trip journey across the island seemed to go fast. This was mostly due to Jack. He stayed quiet initially as we weaved through the suburbs of Dublin, noting that some of us might be worse for wear after a night in Dublin’s pubs. After a bit he began to chat. For the rest of the day, we were treated to a monologue on Irish history and folklore that could best be described as a master class. I grew up on this, mostly because of tales from my mother’s family, and we had both done a lot of pre trip research. That said even I found myself learning some new and interesting little bits. Each section of his monologue seemed to fit the area we were travelling through. In the Pale we were treated to some early history, including the pre-Christian kingdoms, the Vikings and the arrival of the English who initially stayed in this rich land south of Dublin. As we went west, we learned of fairies and passed several examples of fairy trees in the middle of fields and their importance. Crossing the Shannon River and into the west the banishment of people to “hell or Connaught” by Oliver Cromwell was brought up. Finally, that most tragic of events the Great Famine of the middle of the 19th Century. This was made even more poignant as we passed the An Gorta Mór Memorial in Ennistymon, County Clare, and several famine graves, on neighbouring hills. It wasn’t all serious and sad history. As we approached the village of Moneygall, Jack brought up the fact that former US President Barack Obama had some Irish heritage. The locals having discovered this and in tribute had the Barack Obama Plaza created outside the town and invited him to officially open it. Then we passed it and discovered that Plaza in that part of Ireland meant a gas station and convenience store just off the highway. Later we passed Icarus Statue on Rocky Road Roundabout outside Ennis, County Clare and Jack explained it’s history and how it was commissioned by one of the founders of Ryanair for his former partner, both who originally from the area. I’m not sure if Jack was a natural storyteller or it was a result of his time at Trinity College, but he managed to keep us informed and entertained throughout the day. Interspaced with his tales was some appropriate traditional Irish music, provided by an extensive playlist on his phone piped through the buses PA system. The time seemed to pass easily and quickly. The return trip from Galway to Dublin was a bit more subdued as most of the passengers were a bit tired after this long day and deep in their own thoughts as to what they had seen and heard. There were still some comments from the never tiring Jack though, often suggestions on what else to do during one’s stay in Dublin. Included in this was a list of good pubs to visit where traditional Irish Music was played and were not overpriced and overcrowded with tourists like those in the Temple Bar district. I would be remiss if I didn’t also mention Sarah the driver who was the consummate professional. She maneuvered the large and unwieldy bus easily through city traffic and narrow winding roads. The best example of this was in Ennistimon County Clare. There is a rather sharp turn off Main Street on to the Michael Conway Bridge over the Cullenagh River. It would be hard to do in a normal sized car. In a bus it requires both skill and even a bit of luck. The scars on the walls of aptly named clothing store “Off the Rails” on the corner stand as testament to what can go wrong. Tired but definitely not bored we arrived back in Dublin that evening, said our goodbyes to Jack, Sarah and our fellow passengers and headed off to change before trying some of Jack’s suggestions for an evenings entertainment.

Disappointed at the end
This locations this tour took us on was fantastic; however, the tour itself was a pretty bad experience. After our two hour stop in Galway, they decided ti leave the air conditioning off for the entirety of the stop for the full bus to return to. The ride back was so hot that my husband and I almost passed out. I had to walk up to the front of the bus to ask the tour guide to turn on the AC for the back of the bus.

We just waisted our money
This tour operator does not follow the tour description offered by Viator. We did not have walking tours in Ennis and Limerick. We were left to our selves without any guidance.

Kevin was a great guide, knowledgeable friendly with useful tips. The whole day was fantastic. We loved the cliffs visit as well as Galway. Timings worked out well. Beautiful scenery along the way. Would recommend.

Outsource the driving!
It was great! Guide was very good and it was a smooth ride! Great alternative to renting a car and making the drive out ourselves.

Great trip with David and Krishna!
We loved our tour to Northern Ireland. David was an excellent guide - he sings and plays the ukulele as well as explaining Irish history and culture. He really made the experience special. The Black Cab Tour was unique, although understanding the driver took a lot of focus. We really enjoyed exploring Dunluce Castle before visiting the Giants’ Causeway, and we drove along the coast and were able to see the islands of Scotland. This was a very well run tour.
