It rained. The seats were wet and wiped with a soaked rag which did no good. The gondolier did not speak a word. Could not wait to get off the boat.

la guide parlait trop vite, ce qui rendait difficilyla compréhension avec en plus un fort accent. il suffirait de parler doucement. La partie gondole est sans explication puisque la guide reste a quai.

total waste of money, booked a 2pm time slot only to arrive ans be given tickets for an hour later to Doges Palace, then had a short window to visit St Marks Basilica due to it being Sunday and closing early. it would have been cheaper to book it separately myself.

The guide was great, and the experience overall was meant to be a fun one — we were really excited in the lead-up to it. However, the gondola ride itself was quite unpleasant. It would have been helpful to be informed beforehand that we wouldn’t be allowed to move seats, as one lady tried to shift and was understandably told off (for safety reasons, of course — no one wants to end up in the water!). Unfortunately, the gondolier was quite rude and ended up shouting at us, which turned what should have been a beautiful moment into a bitter-sweet one. We were told not to talk or even smile or take any photos, which completely killed the atmosphere. After that, we just wanted to get it over with. Never mind — always another time!

Het was op zich hele mooie rondleiding. Alleen hadden we de secret tour geboekt maar we kregen denk ik de gewone rondleiding. Dat was een tegenvaller. Geen licht dat ineens aan ging zoals andere reiziger hier beschreef. Maar desondanks wel genoten. Al vraag ik me af of we niet teveel betaald hebben.
