It was horrible. Gondola man never spoke or explained where we are or what we see. Never song for us. Usually they do. And the whole process took only 15 min because we were late for 10 min. The place was very far from Marco Polo square. And the price was very expensive. I asked randomly how much is the ride they said 90 euro. But I paid $175

We were very disappointed with this activity. Guide talked to another guide and group the entire time. Was not private or “off the beaten path”. Price was 2-3x what others paid for similar experience. Ride only lasted 20 minutes, rather than the promised 30 minutes. Very poor experience.

Absolutely brilliant - book it, you won’t regret it!
I would thoroughly recommend this experience. Novella has been an outstanding guide and any tour operator should count themselves lucky to have her on their books. I have been to Pompeii once before but my husband has not, so I wanted to book a tour in order to give him a quick overview of the place. I should add that I am a Latin teacher, so did not expect to hear much that I have not come across before. However, Novella has been that good that she managed to intersperse a few things which were new to me. Very well done! Additionally, I was very impressed by how much condensed information she managed to get across, much of them I had to learn over years and years. From a non-Classicist perspective, this tour would be the ideal thing to do to quickly get a very good impression of what life was like in ancient Pompeii. The only thing that I would change if I were the operator is the clarity of information about the meeting point on the ticket voucher. My Google Maps did not pick up on the correct street name of the meeting point. I would add something like “the second entrance on the left down from the train station near hotel Vittoria by the big square” as we found ourselves at the wrong entrance and slightly panicked when we realised. As it was, it was not a problem though. Finally, the word “small” was not an understatement! We were only four people on the tour which made the whole experience feel very relaxed. There was no struggling to hear the guide. Overall, thank you so much for a fantastic morning, Novella!

No texting and gondoliering.
We met the gondolier and he was nice. We got on the gondola and other than greeting us, he didn’t speak to us the rest of the trip. He was texting or speaking (yelling) with other gondoliers in Italian the whole trip. If we asked questions, he would give us one sentence answers and go back to his phone.

Great Tour
Our guide was an artist herself which really added to our experience. She was so knowledgeable of all the paintings and statues we saw. The skip the line portion is invaluable. We saw so much more due to that. I absolutely recommend this tour.

False time
It says it will be a 30 minute experience but it was only 20 including a 5 minute check in. Was disappointed about this for the price but the ride itself was nice.

Disappointment
Guide never showed up. We were at the meeting point 1/2 hour before scheduled time. 15 minutes past time...30 minutes past time...made a phone call to contact number printed on sheet and the gentleman a first daud he couldn't help me but then did...waiting to hear. I have used Viator many tines and in many places always wirh great satisfaction...but not today.

Great Experience
Such a wonderful trip! The two other attendees of my tour did not show up, so I had a surprise private tour with Alessia (Alecia? So sorry, I did not get the spelling!) and it was amazing. She did a great job showing me the place and telling me about all the fun and interesting details. I booked the option to see the gardens, and the ticket for the shuttle bus (two ways) was included. Seeing the grandeur of it all was riduculous! The tour involves some walking, and we had a short 10min break. The tour ended in the English garden from where I enjoyed exploring some more on my own, I was even allowed to get back into the palace with my tour ticket. Highly recommend if you have some extra time during a stay in the region
