Beautiful Views, But Disappointing Service
We took a nighttime gondola ride through the canals of Venice, and while the scenery was undeniably beautiful and the setting very romantic, the overall experience fell short of expectations—especially given the price. The quiet of the evening and the lights reflecting on the water created a lovely atmosphere. It had the potential to be a memorable, even magical, experience. Unfortunately, our gondolier didn’t contribute much to that potential. He seemed completely disengaged—no welcome, no conversation, no effort to make the ride feel personal or special. While we didn’t expect a full guided tour, a little interaction or even a friendly attitude would have gone a long way. For such an iconic and pricey Venetian experience, it felt more transactional than welcoming. The beauty of the canal saved it from being a total disappointment, but overall, it lacked the warmth and charm we were hoping for.

Very dissatisfied with this trip. To start we could not find the tour operator. We arrived 15 minutes early and contacted him through the app and no response. We tried again asking for guidance to pickup specifics and again no response. We tried a 3rd time and left my cell number…again with no response. Finally contacted Viator support. A very nice gentleman helped us and gave us directions. I asked him to stay on the line while I investigated the tour operator. The tour guide was flippant and said we were 35 minutes late. I explained that we were trying to contact him for 45 minutes and he disregarded our explanation and said our tour would be cut short. I explained this to Viator support and he told us was very sorry for the delay and pickup issues and that he would process a partial refund. 9check your recording of this interaction. We were expecting a gondola ride with a tour guide explaining the history and the hidden gems of Venice as per the description of the tour. The tour operator was not very knowledgeable about the history and asked us to ask him anything? He did not provide the information or historic guide as described and seemed somewhat mysogystic toward the female of our party and mostly addressed the men. Very annoying I have been a long time user if Viator, also used to have an account with my old yahoo email and this was disappointing. Then we were told that no refund (partial or otherwise) would be issued …unconscionable.

Guide told us very little, yelled to every other gondolier as we laser by like he was in a party. The booking details were WRONG completely different drop spot at end do we needed to cut short and worse…. These gondolas are Everywhere do not book in advance through a third party company you waste money.. ZERO HELP THROUGH THIS APP. .

This was good, super touristy but really great to hear from a 4th generation Gandolier. seeing smaller quiet canals. But wish there was more history more telling of the story of Venice. They don't all sing ours did a little. Some don't sing at all. Just an FYI. I didn't care but my mom would have been disappointed.

The location of this gondola ride was about a mile walk from where we were staying, so quite inconvenient given we had a location about 500 ft away. I called to change location but was told i could not change. Had I known there was a surplus of available gondolas, i would have not booked on this site. Also, ‘off the beaten path’ meant you were not going to be anywhere near the Grand Canal where all the action is at. This was a circular ride in a quiet neighborhood. Nothing spectacular. For the money, i wouldve preferred some pizzazz. Boring. Nice gondolier who was also training another man.
