We took the free walking tour on our first day in Budapest. It was an excellent way to get a feel for the city and the main sights. Our guide was very informative, friendly and fun. We really enjoyed the tour and would recommend you try it.

2 stars: tour was boring, there was so many people (it is ok, because many people = good opinions - 1 star on plus). Second star is for that tour took a little bit more than 2 hours and the pace was ok. Rest of stars: We didn't move for half hour. Tour guide was looking only on pretty girls. Stories and informations were not interesting at all, everything like that we can read from wikipedia standing in front of each building or on places. Nothing suprising, except the story about roof tiles at the end, but it was almost like release after boring 2 hours. Stop was done in the place with free water, but also in the most loud place in Budapest. Break took 15 minutes instead 10 and still some people were chasing us, because guide was not able to reach so many people. No plan how to cross crossroads. Money to hand? Seriously? Normally it is into the hat, then it finish without angry glance that somone gave not too much money for this boring trip. And environment: everyone get paper leaflets, when after one hours half of people throw it to the bin and second half was waving it because we were standing very often in the June sun (except break and first half hour). Thank you and choose other free tour guide.

Did the evening tour with Sophie and her partner last weekend. The tour lasted about an hour going through a touristy shopping district and ended up walking along the beautiful Danube River. It was a nice walk with interesting stories and some gorgeous views. Sophie was energetic and she made it fun. I recommend her tour.

Recommend by friends from different countries. So I was excited to join their free walking tour. I joined Sunday morning Oct 27. The guide was nice and friendly but it finished less than 2h (advertised 2.5-3h), and I felt she’s reading scenario.. I tipped her decent amount but some people just left or disappeared when the tour was closing. Your experience will be totally different depends on the tour guide I guess. So my advice is don’t expect that much, tip generously if your guide did a great job! :-)
