Thank you so much for reaching out! My days back home in Hawaii are treating me well — though I have to say Japan already feels like a dream I don't want to wake up from! 😊 Monica was absolutely wonderful. What made our time together so special was exactly what you described — Japan felt less like a tourist destination and more like a place a dear friend was showing me for the first time. One moment that stands out was when I got completely lost in Shibuya on my last night trying to find the Puma store. Monica had already prepared me so well during our full day together that even wandering lost through Shibuya on my own felt like an adventure rather than a disaster! Her knowledge of the city — the hidden gems, the local tips, even knowing that Don Quijote is open 24 hours when you need it most — made everything feel manageable and exciting. Monica has a warmth and genuine curiosity that made me feel completely at ease from the very first moment. She didn't just show me Tokyo — she helped me understand it. She listened to my stories, shared her own, and made me feel like I had a real friend in Japan. I would recommend Monica and TOMOGO without hesitation to anyone visiting Tokyo for the first time. Our tour with Mariana was amazing. We asked for a less touristy area and she accommodated. She took us to 3 different Buddhist temples and a 400 year old tea house (which was amazing) She was very knowledgeable and friendly. Would definitely book again

This customized walking tour of Kagurazaka was an absolute highlight! My guide Monica was warm, engaging, and very knowledgeable. The tour was customized to my interests, making it feel personal rather than scripted. We wandered quiet lanes, discovered temples, shops, and cafés, and learned so much about a part of Tokyo I wouldn’t have appreciated on my own. The pace was perfect, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions and enjoy the atmosphere. If you’re looking to experience a side of Tokyo beyond the typical tourist sights, this is a great tour!

We went on a short day with mr yuki matsutani, very fun guy and knowledgeable. Had a guidance with transportation, and an educational fun activity at the honjo disaster center under the tokyo fire department, then ended the tour with a yakiniku lunch. Great day, great memories

What a fantastic tour! We loved seeing things and going places that we would have never found on our own. Jake went out of his way to make our stay in Kyoto memorable. He offered suggestions and kept in touch even after our tour and we really appreciated his kindness. He truly went above and beyond!

Worst tour agency I have dealt with in Japan in terms of customer service. I booked a 3-hour Tokyo tour through the Tomogo app on 15 June for 28 June, nearly two weeks in advance. At the time of booking, multiple guides were shown as available for my selected date and time slot, so I chose “Kervin”. Immediately after booking, I received an automated message encouraging me to contact my guide and share my expectations for the tour. I spent time writing a detailed message outlining what I hoped to see and experience. Unfortunately, I received no response from Kervin. I followed up through the app, but again received no reply. I then contacted Tomogo customer support by email, but received no response there either. As a last resort, I sent a DM to their Instagram account. On Wednesday evening, I finally received a reply from “Peter”, who assured me that I was in good hands and that even if Kervin was unavailable, he would personally ensure that another suitable guide would be assigned to my tour. A few hours later, however, Tomogo’s customer service team emailed me to say that they were unilaterally cancelling my booking because Kervin was unavailable and they had no alternative guides available for that date. What makes this especially frustrating is that, even now, the Tomogo app continues to show multiple guides as “available” for the same tour on 28 June. I have attached a screenshot. The issue is not simply that the tour was cancelled. Plans can change. The problem is the lack of communication, the contradictory information provided by different representatives, and the amount of time I had to spend chasing basic responses despite having booked well in advance. As a paying customer, I believe it is reasonable to expect prompt confirmation that a tour advertised as available can actually be fulfilled. Instead, I spent days trying to obtain a response, only to have the booking cancelled after I had already invested time communicating my preferences and following up repeatedly for updates. Overall, a very disappointing experience and one that has left me with little confidence in Tomogo’s customer service standards. EDIT AS AT 29 JUNE: Editing this review to increase the star rating from one to three stars, because on June 18, Tomogo reached out to me via email to apologize for the inconvenience caused and offer me a complimentary 3-hour tour. I accepted the offer and ended up having a nice morning out with Monica on a tour of the Monzen-Nakacho neighborhood, on my last day in Tokyo. Monica was very friendly and easy to talk to. I appreciate Tomogo's efforts in making this right. Thanks.

An Unforgettable Day in Little Edo! We booked a tour with Fujita-san. She was warm and bubbly and speaks excellent English and Filipino. Our day exploring the historic streets of Coedo and around Kawagoe was easily one of the absolute highlights of our entire trip to Japan. She has been in the country for decades and lives in the area, so there was a lot of local knowledge. The pace was alright for the lightly injured like ourselves; yet we were still able to see some hidden gems. Will definitely use Tomogo again next time!

Kyoto Heritage Tour Review We took the Kyoto Heritage Tour yesterday with Mariana as our guide, and it was an excellent experience. She was punctual, matched our pace throughout the tour, and readily answered all of our questions. Mariana expertly guided us through Kyoto’s narrow streets, sharing the rich history of each location. Her knowledge of Kyoto’s side streets and hidden gems was impressive. Some highlights included a stop for refreshing cold green tea and delicious traditional sweets—so good that we bought more to take with us—as well as a visit to a quiet, uncrowded bamboo grove. Mariana was friendly, accommodating, and even took extra time to provide information about a topic I was personally interested in. She finished the tour with excellent restaurant recommendations, which led us to a wonderful riverside dining experience with beautiful views and a cool evening breeze. I highly recommend Mariana to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, personable, and attentive guide in Kyoto.

Great tour from Yusuke who took time to show us hidden gems of Osaka and was keen to tailor our experience to any food, cultural or landmark we were particularly interested in. Did not rush us and was willing to give us as much time to enjoy the tour as we wanted.

Yusuke was a great guide was only in Osaka for a couple days and this tour was a great stress free way to see a bunch of what Osaka has to offer have Yusuke just made it even better felt less of a tour guide amd more like a local friend

I went on the Omakase tour and it was so cool to see a side of Tokyo that wasn’t crowded and catered to my interests! I told them I wanted to thrift and go to a cute cafe - and I got that exactly. I also found nice clothes at their favourite secondhand shop!! Would highly recommend booking a tour with TOMOGO!

I had an incredibly amazing day with Shumpei. It felt just like hanging out with a friend—he was so approachable, engaging, and exceptionally friendly! Shumpei took a lot of time for me, showing me the quieter local spots of Tokyo while providing many cultural and historical insights. He also gave me a fantastic introduction to what Japanese cuisine has to offer. So if you’re looking for an authentic and personal experience, Shumpei is the one to go with.
