We booked a 5pm closed boat tour for the light festival. First of all, the address provided to us was incorrect - it led us to the ticket office. We finally found a tent with Stromma branding, so I spoke to the lady, who looked at my tickets and told me that I had just missed the boat but to stand in line and I would be put on the next one. I was a bit confused because it was a minute to 5:00, but my friends and I followed her directions. A few minutes later, I overheard her tell someone that they could either wait here or board a closed boat tour instead. I told her that I had booked a closed boat tour. She realized she made a mistake and directed us to yet another tent along the canals. So we raced to the other tent and were told again that we had missed the boat and to stand in the "standby" line. They said they could not guarantee that we are put on the next boat. It is based on the capacity of people who were on time. This is frustrating because had we had the correct address, we would have made it on time. The person at the Stromma tent had misguided us and this also made us late. After an hour of waiting at this second tent, we still had not gotten onto any boats so I spoke to the lady at the small ticket office next to this tent and the resolution we came up with was to come back later that night. The tour itself was underwhelming, but the main reason for my frustration with this entire experience was the unorganized way in which Stromma handles their business.

I was able to hop the boat cruise towards the end of my visit to Amsterdam in April 2018. I quite enjoyed my walk to main location to pick up my ticket to sit back & enjoy the tour with ear plugs supplied. This is a must to take the boat tour when visiting Amsterdam. 💞
