Day trip from Lima to paracas and huacachina.

Absolutely amazing experience. Franklin was the most amazing tour guide ever. Full of local knowledge and always keen to answer questions it was definitely the best day I’ve had in Peru so far. The group size was perfect and the different people you meet certainly make the trip that much better. I believe I paid €100 for the day which for transport, food, knowledge and the experience itself was genuinely a bargain for what you get in return. I cannot stress enough how amazing Franklin was, the constant language swapping between translations into being extremely helpful wherever we were, joining in on the fun and always willing to go above and beyond. The boat trip to begin with was a great start to the day. The local information was second to none, followed by the Prisco tour in Paracas, where Franklin constantly helped out with information and was always keeping us updated on everything ensuring we were all having a good time. Then the dune buggy ride and toast in Huacachinas, what can only be described as a perfect ending to a perfect day. I cannot thank Franklin enough for making this day as good as it was. As to George the bus driver too always smiling and welcoming asking how the trip has been. Brilliant staff, brilliant company and an absolute bargain for what you get. I will be recommending this trip to friends who decide to come to Peru in the future.

Underwhelming and disappointing

I truly was looking forward to this day and was expecting it to be a highlight of my trip to Lima. The bus was mostly fine, I wouldn't describe it as 'luxury', but it was relatively comfortable apart from the headrests which seemed to stick out - the USB ports didn't work, and if the person in front reclined, there was very little room. A common theme throughout the trip was a feeling of being rushed. Upon arrival in Paracas, people needed to use a restroom as we were only told we would be getting off the bus 10-15 minutes before we did (we were told it would be an hour). Our tour guide Luii was very keen to move on, and actually someone was left on the bus, which drove away and had to come back to drop her off. We then rushed to the boat, as it was easter weekend, it was extremely busy, but Luii never stopped to make sure everyone was present. I was very surprised about the boat as it was promised as the Peruvian Galapagos, but we saw two seals and birds and then left, so any Galapagos was evidently missed. We then rushed back to the meeting point, and people were again trying to use the restroom or buy drinks, which we had to rush on from. We then went to the Pisco lunch, which was overall disappointing and was just a way to get us to buy Pisco, and I'm sure for PeruHop to get some commission. For 35 soles, I would've expected better food. After, we got to Huacachina. Because it was easter we had to walk around 25-30 minutes from the parking to the oasis. This would've been fine, but again, Luii rarely stopped to make sure the group was all together, and we were weaving in and out of traffic. It was then told to us that we should pre-order dinner from one space, which was disappointing as it was not cheap, and when it came to eating it, it shouldn't have cost anywhere near the prices. Again, I'm thinking this is to make a commission. The highlight of the trip was Huacachina, but even this was unorganised. Our buggy driver dropped us off at the dune and made us take our bags, which we couldn't take down on the sandboard. We asked Luii where we could store our bags and which buggy we were to ride in. He just said he didn't know and walked away. I asked if we could get in the one buggy that was there (bearing in mind there were 30-40 people at the dune), he said: "that's my buggy". He didn't have a solution, and eventually a buggy came to pick us up. At the end of the experience, we returned to the meeting point at the set time of 6:45, and there were just 4 people there. We asked if we could return to the bus, so we did. Bearing in mind the meeting time was 6:45, it was nearly 8 pm before the bus left. Overall, it would've been nice for a premium tour to have had some care and attention from Luii, and to have cut the Pisco session to have had more time and some agency for where we wanted to eat.

5 star experience. This is the only tour that you should consider taking to this location. Perú Hop’s customer service is unparalleled. The communication on WhatsApp is so responsive and helpful. What an amazing company. Their bus is impeccable, clean, comfortable, modern and a lovely place to relax in between activities. They have WiFi, air conditioning and reclining seats. The day is long but so worth it. The activities were so unique and really one of a kind. Sand boarding and dune buggies are definitely the highlight. We covered a lot of ground in one day and it was nice to get a little glimpse at some other parts of Perú. Highly recommend.

Fun day

Prepare for a looong day. But the bus is extremely comfortable and the seats recline so you can sleep during the ride. Paracas and Ballestas Islands were incredible. We saw Humboldt penguins, so many sea lions (lots of babies too) and even a whale on the way back! If you love animals, this is just superb tour. We had Pisco tasting and lunch. There are several options for lunch and it was tasty. The only suggestion I would make is if it's possible to move Pisco tasting *after* lunch. Because without proper breakfast, just whatever you brought with you on the bus, and with heat and sun, it's a bit of a shock to the system to try five different types of alcohol before proper food. Huacachina is magical. Prepare for adrenaline rush. Buggy ride is more like a rollercoaster experience. It was fun. HUGE kudos and thanks to our guide Yeli. She kept us all well informed, with all necessary info both explained personally and sent to WhatsApp group, and she made sure everything runs smoothly and on time. A true rockstar!
