Disrespectful Treatment and Poor Experience on Isla del Sol Tour

Although we made the payment by creating an account on the PeruHop website, they did not inform us in advance that we would need to pay an additional 10 Bolivianos at the entrance to Isla del Sol. Unfortunately, we had already spent all of our Bolivianos, and at the last minute, they asked for 10 Bolivianos per person. We kindly agreed and paid a total of 2 USD. This amount was really much higher than the actual entrance fee. They treated us with a lot of disrespect. By the way, this fee is called the 'island community life entrance fee.' They looked at us like we were just tourists with USD. Also, we couldn't find a single restroom on the island. Since we only speak a little Spanish, it was difficult to communicate in many places. The tour guide, Andres (from Boliviano Hop), didn't care about us because we couldn’t speak Spanish, and he didn't include us in the group photo. There’s nothing to do on the island. He only asked us to sit next to two llamas for 45 minutes, but we didn’t stay. As you already know, taking a picture with a llama costs at least 5 USD. If you take a picture of a llama from a distance, its owner might even attack you. Keep in mind that the fee we paid for the Isla Del Sol Tour only covered the boat ride to the island. Also, when you want to sit on the upper deck of the boat, you will be confronted by very aggressive dock workers who won’t be kind and will only speak Spanish due to the limit on the number of seats.

Excellent Tour with Peru Hop!

We had a fantastic experience with Peru Hop on the 2-day tour to Paracas, Ballestas Islands, and Huacachina. Everything was extremely well organized from start to finish. No tourist traps, no rushed stops—just a smooth, enjoyable itinerary. We were the first boat at Ballestas Islands, which meant we had amazing, peaceful views of the wildlife before the crowds arrived. The Paracas National Reserve was breathtaking, and the guide shared fascinating stories that really brought the landscape to life. Although we couldn’t do the dune buggies due to a sandstorm, we were still able to climb the dunes, and it turned out to be a great adventure on its own. The vineyard tasting was also a lovely surprise and very well done. Special thanks to Moises, our guide—genuine, kind, and always making sure everyone had a great time. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Peru. One of the best tours we’ve done as a group!

A Wild Ride — Full of Surprises!

This 2-day trip was super well organized, and all the guides were really kind and helpful. Sadly, because of a tsunami in the Pacific, the boat tour to the Islas Ballestas was cancelled. But I was lucky — we finished the Nazca Lines flight just before a sudden sandstorm rolled in. In the end, it was still totally worth it. Like they say in Forrest Gump, “Life is like a box of chocolates — you never know what you’re gonna get.”

Amazing service by Peru Hop and especially our guide Jorge who made the journey very organised, interesting, and personalised! He came one by one to everyone to make sure we knew what we were doing and where / when to be for the different activities! He also gave us several recommendations for the rest of our journey! A great way to experience Peru.

A very well organised, professional and communicated tour that allows for flexibility and great options that you can add on to increase your overall experience. The tours are very enjoyable and well priced and paced. Luis our tour guide was excellent, he was knowledgeable and super helpful, nothing was ever a problem. I would highly recommend Peruhop if you want to get out and about and experience everything that Peru has to offer.

Hugely recommend Peru Hop, they are super organised and it’s a very sociable and safe way to see the country. The guide from Lima to Arequipa (Ana) was especially kind with lots of tips and information.
