Colmar day trip

Our guide Lea was very nice. She drove 8 of us in a van. She was an excellent driver. We enjoyed our trip. It was a rainy day in Colmar and we wanted to go to the Chocolate museum. Between the excessive crowds and bad weather we didn’t get to see it. We did go to another city which was a bit less crowded. It was still very crowded but we did get to enjoy the Christmas market. I’m giving the company and the driver 5 stars because of Lea. She texted us places to go to that were inside because of the rain. When someone said they needed a restroom she immediately took us to a restroom. We also had one passenger who repeatedly told her to blow her van horn at a full sized tour bus loading mostly elderly passengers in the rain. It was in a roundabout and so there was no place for any cars go until they were finished. Lea responded very calmly to the man in our bus demanding that she start blowing her horn by simply saying “I will not.” Each time he demanded she said “I will not.” It took all of 7 minutes for the bus to be completely filled with passengers and on its way. I know because Lea announced the time once we were on our way. The 7 minutes to help others was a small price to pay. She kept her composure during and after the event. The lesson I learned from her that day was far more valuable to me than the sightseeing trip.

D-Day experience was better than I could have hoped

What an amazing and emotional day visiting Pointe du Hoc, Omaha Beach and The American Cemetery. Our tour guide Matt was incredible and provided fantastic running commentary that perfectly accompanied our sightseeing. I learned a ton about all aspects of the D-Day invasion and the ensuing battle in Normandy. Matt’s passion for the topic and his storytelling made it an incredible day.

It was a lovely tour. Our guide, Stan, was very friendly and shared a lot of wine knowledge with us. The vineyard we visited was historic and located on a hill with beautiful views, and the wines we tasted were excellent. I will definitely use this company again for future vineyard tours

We so enjoyed the tour. It was a beautiful day to visit St Emilion. Rudolphe was quite knowledgeable as he grew up in the region. The choice of vineyards to visit was interesting as each produced different quantities. The smaller vineyard was the most interesting as their vats were housed in the caves. The chateau Grangey was quite special. The owner greeted us and shared his story and love of his product. We were all impressed with his wine and production room were amazing. Would love to take another tour with Rudolphe.

Great Guide and Scenery, Though Comfort and Crowds Were Challenge

Overall this tour delivered on its advertised itinerary and the small group size of eight was accurate. However, eight people felt too many for the sprinter van, which made the ride quite hot and uncomfortable throughout the day. Colmar and the surrounding villages were undeniably beautiful, but visiting during the Christmas market season meant the crowds were extremely heavy. I expected it to be busy, but the volume of people made it difficult to enjoy the experience. This is not the tour companys fault, but travelers should be aware of what to expect if visiting in December. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable, though she only accompanied the group during the castle visit and not at the other stops. While this may be the tour format, it would have been helpful to have guidance at each location. Overall the itinerary is lovely, but I would recommend this tour outside the Christmas market period or with a smaller group for a more comfortable experience. One additional note: remember to bring euros to tip your guide. On my tour only a few participants tipped, which was disappointing given the guides effort and professionalism.

No wonder Colmar is called the Christmas Capital of the world. Its traditional and lively decorations all over the town simply blew us away. It’s definitely the winner of our five city Christmas markets tour. The guide Camille is wonderful and knowledgeable. Highly recommended!!

Pascal was an AMAZING guide!!! We were so lucky to just be the two of us so he added very specific details based on the information and history we already knew about D-day. He related it to films and shows we had seen. He included soldiers stories as well as amazing facts about the events leading up to, during and following the storming of the beaches! He was a human encyclopedia about the time period and we couldn’t have had a better day regarding such a crucial point in world history!

The full day wine tour from Colmar was a great opportunity to try different Alsace wines from a range of different wine producers and to see a few of the beautiful towns and countryside outside of Colmar. Our guide Thierry was knowledgeable, welcoming and friendly so the day was also great fun

Thierry was an excellent source of information! The number of stops and castle were exactly as we hoped. Such lovely villages and wonderful wine stop. The castle tour took longer than it was planned to, which made the evening plans a little rushed, but it was an excellent trip and he was funny and made it worthwhile.

Highly recommend!

The half day Alsace wine route was the best addition to our trip to Strasbourg! All of the wines we were able to taste were delicious, and I learned SO much about wine! Everyone was very professional, kind, and made the day so interesting and fun. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone coming to visit this area!!

Wonderful Alsace Wine Tour

Lovely day into the country around Strasbourg visiting vineyards, tastings, and lunch on our own in Ribeauville. Laurence was a great, knowledgeable sommelier and made the trip more informative and fun.

Although I chose the 4-hour tour instead of the all day, I’m walking away feeling like an expert on D-Day. Pascal began his duties as soon as we entered the van and didn’t stop until he dropped us off. Highly recommend. I think everyone in America, Canada, and Great Britain should visit Normandy as a humble reminder of what happened and why we should all be extremely grateful for the outcome. Pascal and Ophorus is a great place to start.

Wine and joy
