We had so much fun with Sam as our tour guide. We did so many things on our vacation week last week and my family unanimously agreed that rafting was our favorite experience/day by far. The activity and guides were all superb but Sam was our specific raft guide and he was super conversational, interesting, knowledgeable and informative, both about rafting and the general area. He kept us all comfortable and engaged the entire time and we were all sad to see the experience end. When in the area again we would definitely do this tour again and we would request Sam. We have friends going to area in near future and have already recommended both Mild to Wild as well as Sam to request as their guide. Excellent experience!

We did the La Plata jeep tour and the views from the top were stunning! Our guide, Christy, was excellent. She gave us time on several stops on the way up the mountain to explore on our own. Excellent 1/2 day activity!

Our family’s first time going rafting and we had a great experience with the guide, MD. The guide was very informative of local sights down the river. We had two seven year olds and they enjoyed the ride. The front office gave them some squirt guns, so they were mostly occupied with that. Overall it was a great experience and I highly recommend trying it out as a first time goer.

We had an amazing trip! Jef was our guide and he was awesome. He was clearly the most experienced guide on the water from the company that day. He was very knowledgeable of local geology, history, restaurants, etc. He took great care of my four and eight year old niece and nephew and the raft ride was just perfect for them. The bus driver was careful and a smooth, respectful driver. Overall we had a really amazing time and will certainly be back!

We did the half day morning Jeep Tour out of Silverton. Our guide/driver Jay was outstanding. He addressed our needs touring with a 2-year old and a not so adventurous grandma and chose a route that suited those needs. Jay stopped at various places to give us insight on past mining sites and avalanche events. Once we reached The Animas Forks Ghost Town, he let us explore on our timeline, and then cracked some rocks for us, showing us the various mineral content. His attention to our interest and comfort (it rained on our return trip) made for an unforgettable experience. Thank you, Jay!

I did the kayaking today and I was so excited as this was the last thing we were doing on our 2 and a half week road trip and I was so disappointed. I feel like they really falsely advertise their kayaking. They said it was a leisure kayaking trip with swimming in the Colorado river. There was no swimming and the kayaking trip was definitely not leisure. I’ve done kayaking trips before that were actually leisure. This was hours of paddling with several rapids. It’s actually quite strenuous and unpleasant with no stops for anything. They actually ran behind because it took them so long to load everything and the others on the rafts were so obnoxious and slowing the group down. What they also don’t tell you is that you are with the rafters. At one point I was taking a picture and a raft of people ran right into me and started shouting at me (even though I was ahead of them and they ran into me, and there are also 10 of them to paddle away and one of me) a guy took his paddle and started screaming at me that I was to close and splashing water directly into my face with his paddle so I couldn’t see to get away. Imagine your trying to have a peaceful kayaking trip in nature and that is what you are expecting and you get giant rafts running you over and people screaming at you. That is the reality at mild to wild rafting. The people we were with that were rafting were incredibly obnoxious, screaming, holding up the entire group so that we fell behind because they kept fighting and pushing each other overboard. I didn’t realize the group was like 50 plus people that they cram into this small bus together to bring to the river. Honestly, it was miserable. I will never do it again or recommend it to my friends. They need to have a separate trip for just kayakers or state that your going to be with people who are rafting and there won’t be any swimming (which they specifically stated there would be and there wasn’t) Don’t promise things that you aren’t going to deliver on. What would have made this better is to separate the kayakers, take them on a separate trip that is maybe half as long as we paddled and then have them paddle to a beach for some swimming. That’s what I thought I was getting, that’s what I was led to believe I was getting based on their misleading description on their website. Trust me, do not kayak with this group. I guarantee you will regret it.

We did a "mild" trip as we had a 4 year old in our party. We consider the trip represented good value for money. We had five in our party and were joined by 2 others. Fortunately the personalities were compatible and everyone got on very well. Our guides were outstanding (Annie and Roni). We were especially impressed with how good they were with our 4 year old. They went out of their way to interact with him which was nice. I thought the guides worked really hard from beginning to end to ensure our trip ran smoothly. River guiding on multi-day trips is not for the faint-hearted. It's hard work! Water level was low and it was windy. We loved our river experience. Thanks Roni and Annie

This is the second year we have used Mild to Wild for our Youth Camp Rafting Trip. Last year we went to Moab, Utah and had a wonderful time. This year we were in Durango and went on the 3/4 Lower Animas River trip. It was excellent. Our raft guides, Lauren, Destiny and Josh were very professional and fun. The group had a great time. Mild to Wild has done a good job of keeping our business. Last year we were scheduled to go to Durango but due to Covid we switched to Moab, Utah which was closer. They did an amazing job switching our trip and working with me even though I changed the trip dates twice after we had already changed the location. This year, I estimated 24 people when we only had 20. I received 90% back on those 4 spots which is a much better policy then they had before Covid-19 issues caused them to change it last year. I really appreciate the more flexible cancellation/refund policy. I also didn't know about their photo package for Durango. We arrived back at the shop and I thought I would have to pay $45/raft and our group were on three different rafts. However, the lady at the counter just added the picture package to our trip package and it was only $2/person for the picture package so I paid a total of $40 for all the pictures from all three rafts. That was a huge blessing. Everyone was friendly, helpful, fun, and kind. Thank you Mild to Wild for an excellent trip.
