5 Stars An unforgettable adventure through Cataract Canyon – Max and Peyton made it truly exceptional. Our group of five just returned from a 5-day whitewater rafting trip with Mild to Wild through Cataract Canyon, and it was truly the trip of a lifetime. From start to finish, the experience far exceeded our expectations in every way. Our guides, Max and Peyton, were absolutely fantastic. Their professionalism, expertise, and easy camaraderie made all the difference. They worked seamlessly as a team, and it was clear they both loved what they do. Whether navigating the rapids, setting up camp, preparing meals, or sharing insights about the canyon, they did everything with a level of care and skill that made us feel both safe and completely at ease. The rafting itself was incredible. The weather was perfect, the water was refreshing, and the views along the Colorado River were nothing short of stunning. We did several hikes throughout the trip, but the hike up to the Dollhouse stood out as the most memorable. We started early to beat the midday heat and tackled a moderate-to-hard climb with about 850 feet of elevation gain. Reaching the top near the "Ice Box" made it all worthwhile—the views were spectacular and it was a rewarding challenge for all of us. Going in, we had low expectations for the accommodations and meals, but Max and Peyton absolutely blew us away. Every meal was thoughtfully prepared and delicious. Dinners included grilled salmon, perfectly cooked steak, and hearty lasagna—each accompanied by appetizers, sides, and desserts that rivaled anything from a restaurant. We had brownies, a giant chocolate chip cookie, strawberry shortcake, and the crown jewel: peach cobbler. Breakfasts and lunches were just as good—so much so that we joked each of us gained seven pounds by the end of the trip! Mild to Wild put together a phenomenal experience, and thanks to Max and Peyton, we’ll be talking about this trip for years. I’m already planning to bring more of my family on a future expedition, whether it’s through Cataract Canyon again or one of the other rivers Mild to Wild serves. Huge thanks to Max and Peyton—your hard work, great attitudes, and love of the outdoors made this adventure one we’ll never forget.

So worth it!!

We did the Mild to Wild Mesa Verde half day trip out of Mancos, CO. It was so worth the price of the ticket. Cat, our guide, was knowledgeable and kind. We travelled with two other couples, and not once did we feel rushed or that somehow we were holding the group up. Personally, I have mobility issues & those were needs were met at each stop we made. Highly recommend this company & especially Cat!

Amazing cliff homes

Art was a very knowledgeable guide. Learned so much about the history of the Pueblo Indians and the reasons they built their homes in the cliffs. Also learned about how the Mesa Verde was formed.

Enjoyable afternoon!

Our guide, Cat, was very knowledgeable and capable of sharing that knowledge with us. She identified for us various plants in the area and alerted us to the presence of wild horses in the park. We were fortunate to see two! Seeing the wild horses was an unexpected pleasure. All in all, the visit to Mesa Verde was very enjoyable with Cat being our guide!

Family adventure on the Colorado River

We got caught in a freak storm but our guide, Claudia, kept calm and focused and delivered safely through to the end. The entire team of guides was amazing to help get everyone warmed up and taken care of. Would it even be fair to review the actual trip, nope, because no one else is ever going to have one like ours. Would I go again? Yep! We would go tomorrow!

What a relaxing day on the river! Castle Valley was a wonderful introduction to rafting for our sons—fun, but not scary. Taz was a great guide! Her knowledge of the area was impressive, especially given that she recently moved there herself!

Jaden was our guide, we definitely recommend him! We went on the Animas river. Look into what the water pressure is, if it's less than 1200 or so, dont go, if it's 1800 get the full day. If it's above get the half day. All around a great trip!!

Had a fantastic trip with Mild to Wild. Check in and set up was quick and seamless. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. We did the 3/4 day trip and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our guide, Dylan, was particular good and I would recommend you request his services. He was knowledgeable, professional and experienced and was able balance giving us a relaxed and carefree day while earnestly guiding the raft safely down the Animas river. I appreciate that they are able to give tourist a good day and adventure while also caring for the river, the environment and the community.

The Piedra River rafting tour was very fun, and the guides were extremely nice and professional. I highly recommend this tour if you're new to rafting. I think you will need to go on their Upper Animas River route for a more adrenaline packed ride.

CATARACT CANYON - JUST BOOK IT ALREADY!! From the moment I first contacted Mild to Wild until we finished our trip, my expectations were constantly exceeded. Five days in Cataract Canyon was not enough. We all thought by the end we would be tired, dirty and ready to be done. Quite the opposite. Five days of amazing adventure with our outstanding guides Max and Payton was more than I could have hoped for. The slower pace at the start allowed for some real bonding time with my four friends, but what I was not prepared for was the relationship that we established with Max and Payton. As the anticipation for our "Big Rapid Days" built, we enjoyed beautiful and challenging hikes, long conversations, great meals and scenic beaches. There were swims off the boat and tons of laughter. Nights by the campfire and sleeping under stars like I have never seen before. We learned about the river and its preservation from two excellent ambassadors who were very passionate about river life. They taught us about the river and made us feel very comfortable right from the start. The food, which was all prepared by Max and Payton, was delicious. We were all very surprised by the quality and quantity of food on our trip. Dining by the river each day only made it more enjoyable. Every staff member we met along the way was friendly and helpful. From Gracen in the office, who answered a million questions, to Josh and Lynn who drove the vans. Mild to Wild is your first and last stop for an amazing river experience. David Schaumberger
