Great day out made more memorable with an excellent guide. Great to have a small group, with a few planned pitstops and a few adhoc diverts which added to the day. So glad that we chose maxtours for this +5 star experience.

We did the death valley sunset and stargazing tour with Momo (Morgan). The tour was brilliant, lots of interesting stops with the right amount of time at each to explore without feeling you were hanging around. Dante's view and artists palette were particularly beautiful spots. We watched the sunset at the sand dunes and after dinner did about 45 min of stargazing. You are given a yoga mat so you can lay at watch the stars whilst Momo pointed out various constellations and planets. Our trip was 10.30am to 11.30pm. The minibus was very comfortable with aircon, seating just 14 although we were a much smaller group. Maxtour provides snacks (granola bars, fruit, crisps) and drinks (water, coke, sprite) which you can help yourself to all day. Momo was an amazing guide. So friendly and informative. She gave us an interesting commentary on the journey to death valley which helped pass the time. She gave more information and suggestions at each stop in the park. She is also a brilliant photographer, taking photos of your party throughout the day, and helping you set up your camera to get brilliant stargazing photos. If you've not visited before a couple of things worth mentioning may be: Just how hot and dry death valley is. We visited early April and the heating felt immense even then. There are toilets at most stops but of course there is no running water so be prepared that toilet visits are not pleasant. Momo did ensure we got a couple of 'proper' toilet stops in the park. Although there isn't loads of walking involved, the terrain at each stop is mixed. I would suggest decent trainers/boots if you want to explore every stop. A couple of stops are easy pavements, but some are quite rugged such as the devils golf course and artists palette. For lunch there is no specific stop so best to eat in the van, although you could choose to sit and eat at a couple of the stops instead of exploring, such as Dante's view or zebrenski point. Not all of them have a bench or wall to sit on though. For dinner you get taken to the ranch in death valley for an hour. There is an ice cream parlour, a saloon and a buffet all serving hot food. However we found the queues at the ice cream parlour and saloon were too long for an hour visit. We did the buffet but I wouldn't recommend it. There is also a store selling sandwiches. Everything at the ranch is expensive ($14 for a store sandwich and $30 for the buffet). If I did the trip again I would definitely buy dinner from the gas station instead.

I was going to do my own driving and sightseeing but when researching the trip MaxTour came to my attention and I've ended up booking 2 day trip to Grand and Antylope Canyons with them. The best thing I've ever done! The tour guide Ken was absolutely amazing. He has not only taken us (the small group of strangers) to the places on the itinerary but also few extra ones. He made this trip extremely enjoyable and totally stress free for me. I highly recommend MaxTour and especially Ken. I'll do this again when I'm in Vegas next time.
