We had an excellent experience with Makana Charters . They were very friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable! We had a great time and highly recommend them, it was a highlight of our vacation. We have been to Hawaii many times and this was a great experience! 👍 We saw a huge pod of Spinner dolphins, including several babies right by the boat. Beautiful!

Fabulous trip. We saw a large pod of dolphins. Two humpback whales. Snorkeling was good. Saw a turtle. The captain was great in the wavy ocean. The coast is beautiful. A must do for Kauai.

Makana Charters was absolutely amazing. 10/10. Their level of detail, hospitality and education was exceptional. We had 8 family members ranging from our Papa at 71 to our son at 10, and all left with rave reviews! World class outfit, extremely kid friendly, and just a great crew. We’ll be back for sure! Dolphins, Na Pali Coast, and a few whales to boot. One of the best charters we’ve ever done. Cant recommend it more!

Nice cruise on the Amelia K. to view the Na'pali coastline as well as a serendipitous visit from a group of Spinner dolphins. I have always been prone to motion sickness and warned the Captain ahead of time. He explained that the Amelia K was constructed in a way that would minimize motion and he was right! I came through in ship shape:-). It was an enjoyable ride in every way, many thanks to Captain Mike and crew.

We loved this boat trip. Captain Re and Jay lad a fun, adventurous, and informative tour of the coast. After the big storms, we were one of the first boats out in over a week of heavy seas canceling tours. We had some wind that made the water a bit rough but the captain handled the boat with expert skill. Jay was a wealth of knowledge about the region and Hawaiian history. Top notch trip and highly recommended.

We thoroughly enjoyed our boat trip along the Na Pali Coast. Absolutely breathtaking views. We were fortunate to see dolphins, turtles, beautiful waterfalls, caves along with the rugged coastline. A definite must while visiting Kaua’i. The crew was very knowledgeable and shared personal family stories and history of the island. Loved the music!

What an incredible experience! Captain A’a and Kona were the absolute best. They were both so kind and fun, and made the trip even better - they navigated some difficult wind waves and handled well (and when my stomach didn’t handle it as well, they checked in on me and made sure I was taken care of). We saw whales, dolphins, turtles, sea caves and of course - the beautiful Nā Pali coast. I would definitely recommend this company, and tour - I’d also recommend following their directions on taking meds for seasickness because you never know what you’ll get on the Hawaiian roller coaster ride!

We had a great time on the Amelia K! The boat was clean and comfortable, and the crew and Captain made the trip amazing! We saw lots of wildlife and got close to the caves and learned so many things. When my son got sick towards the end, there were so good taking care of him for me too. Highly recommend!

This will be the boat tour of your life, hands down! It doesn’t matter what the conditions are, you will have the experience of a lifetime. I spent weeks watching other people’s videos of their boating experiences online. I researched small and large boats, catamarans. Tried to find the best option that would make our small group happy. I found Makana charters, and it was as incredible as I imagined. We chose a small boat so that we could have a more intimate experience with the captain and crew, and be able to enter the sea caves. We had the Seiko 2, a small but very comfy boat. It was too rough to see much if we had snorkled, but we swam in the water by the cliffs which is the experience of a lifetime.These cliffs are not inhabited. They are pristine. The most pristine coastline, perhaps in the entire world. I also picked Makana charters because they are a native Hawaiian company. We had Makana as our captain and Charlie as the co captain. Both of them were fun, funny, who genuinely love Hawai’i, Napali, the boating experience and they love life. They were full of information, but didn’t load you down with too much info. They told stories that made the history come to life. Made those cliffs and vallies become the homes and protection of the ancient Hawaiian inhabitants. Each waterfall had a story, each beach. But all this while we rode the waves and watched for wildlife in the sea. Dolphins and whales were our highlights! Makana had a feel for the ocean, and a natural ease and confidence that made the experience feel as if you were hanging with your good friends. As if he accepted us into his family and welcomed us to the beautiful Hawaiian world to experience it through his own heart and soul. Charlie too. She made the experience up close and personal for every guest by sharing her stories and info, and opening our eyes and ears up to the wonders around us. It was the best! I couldn’t ask for more. Thank you Makana and Charlie for sharing such a special part of your lives with all of us!!

This trip is a must do for anyone visiting Kaua'i! There is much to be seen which is inaccessible by car - wild, beautiful, amazing landscapes, waterfalls, caves. The crew is totally professional - they know exactly what they're doing to keep you safe and protected while giving you an up close experience that is unrivaled. And - they are fun, friendly, and attentive to every question or need. Highly recommended!

We had an amazing time. Captain Sean and his shipmates Ethan and the other young man (I’m not even going to try to spell his name bc I know I’ll ruin it!) were so awesome! Ethan made my daughter feel super safe, and he was really great with her even when she was being clingy. We got to see a bottlenose dolphin, some spinner dolphins, sea turtles and the tail of a whale. I am so happy that we booked with this company. All of the crew were extremely knowledgeable of Hawaiian history, and had great personalities! I highly recommend booking with these guys!!
