This is our first time to the islands and my family and I learned so much about all of the islands, heritage, history and had an awesome time. 2026 update: we went on the smaller Seiko 2 boat with captain Shawn and Lionel, and it was once again our favorite part of the trip. The staff was amazing with my kids and took great care of my sister who got a little seasick (while snorkeling). We got to go inside the caves, swim with a giant sea turtle, aww dolphins, and jump from the top of the boat. The kids now want to come to Kauai again next year instead of trying another island. We love this company. This tour was so much fun- my kids (8 & 10) absolutely loved it too. Our captain was so knowledgeable about the napali coast and told us so much about the history and traditions of what we were seeing, and also knew exactly where to take us for: sea caves, waterfalls, dolphins, snorkeling. I have never seen so many dolphins and they allowed the kids to see on the bow to see them up close. Amazing. We also didn't have anyone in our party get seasick, which was awesome after we all did on another boat. Would absolutely do this again.

Lots of waterfalls ! 2 whales breeched and we waited a while for them to come up. aMore caves than others 2 stops for dolphins. Good Sandwiches. On time. Friendly. Very careful re safety. Good quality snorkel equipment. Lots of stories re the Napali and native Hawaiians.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would. I brought my aunt and cousins on this trip and we all had an amazing time on board of the Amelia K. The crew was really knowledgeable and shared interesting information about the area and coastline and made us feel welcome and safe. The vibe was fun, we saw dolphins and waterfalls, went into sea caves, spent time snorkeling and thoroughly enjoyed the tour. We were stoked and I will definitely book with Makana again when family comes. Add on note for a second experience 7 months later: I booked the same tour with this company and this time came with my parents. I was hoping it would be just as fun as the first time and it was indeed. My parents loved the adventure, the crew, everything we got to see (whales, dolphins, caves, waterfalls, and the whole beautiful Napali coast), the vibe on the boat and the skillful navigation and education by the captain and the crew. Will definitely book a third time if the opportunity arises.

We did this tour last year and liked it so much we decided to do it again. The crew was awesome. They shared alot of history. It was very interesting. We saw so many dolphins. We loved the coves. There was so much beauty throughout the tour. Would highly recommend this tour.

This tour was amazing! They considered everyone’s needs. We had one get sick while snorkeling and they did all they could to help her feel better. Even provided their own jacket. Always to care making sure everyone was safe and provided music. This is a must do! Only way to go is Makana Charters. They had food. Juices, water and soda as much as you wanted. I just can’t say enough good.

Although we have sailed on Makana previously to the NaPali Coast, this trip was organized around the annual whale migration to Kauai. The Makana crew proved to be knowledgeable, caring and fun. It was a thrilling trip that included not only whales, but also dolphins, turtles and spectacular scenery!!!

Nice venture up the NaPali coast. Great crew. The captain was able to maneuver the boat in some really tight spaces to get us good views which was cool. This was our second time to do this excursion and we love it! The views are amazing !

Unreal team and great tour. Got to see dolphins, whales and the incredible scenary. Well worth it. Mike and Elijah and the team were great. Went in January 2025 and returned January 2026 and both times were incredible. Will be returning

Great boat/snorkel tour. Our reservation for the north shore was canceled due to high swells so they called and rebooked us on a south shore trip. We were bummed but it ended up being great. We saw dolphins, whales, and sea turtles. The staff were great. A few ppl got sick so definitely take Dramamine beforehand. Update December 2025: we went back to Kauai and took another tour since we didn’t get to see the napali coast last time! The views of the coastline were beautiful and definitely worth seeing in person - we also saw some whales not far from our boat - but there was no snorkeling on this trip which we had been expecting, so we were somewhat disappointed…we did, however, get to swim a bit.

Wonderful from start to finish!! We had done Liko’s tour years back and very happy to try out this new Makana tour and it was just as well organized and such a great adventure on the Napali Coast! Great captain and shipmates who were all local and native to Kauai with interesting history and warm personalities- thank you for an awe inspiring morning on the ocean!
