We booked a sightseeing snorkeling boat tour of the Napali coast with Makana Charters in October 2025. I don’t usually write reviews, but this tour was so amazing I felt the need to do so. Captain Ross along with the crew Leroy and Andy (hope I got the names right!) were fantastic. They did a fabulous job of explaining different parts of the Napali coast I learned so many interesting things. They pointed out a bunch of wildlife and we had the opportunity to see dolphins, plenty a fish, and even a goat up on one of the cliffs. They made it clear we could only go in caves and snorkel if the conditions were right – they were able to take us in a couple of the caves and we were able to snorkel on the way back to the harbor. They even set out a fishing line off the back which was pretty cool – they didn’t catch anything but the the guys in our group thought that was pretty neat. Only feedback is they should sell Makana Charters shirts because our friend was wanting some swag!!! Highly recommended!!!

This was such a magical experience! I lived in the islands for many years, and have never been on a tour with as much information about the Hawaiian people and culture (really beautiful experiences and stories) coupled with amazing views, dolphins swimming next to you, sea caves and an excellent crew! I would absolutely come back!

The crew was amazing and despite the rain we had a beautiful view of Napali. The crew made the rain experience fun and were very attentive when my husband experienced sea sickness. Advise for future customers - bring extra layers and rain gear. Many were chilly coming back. My only regret is that they didn't say in their ad that starting in October they don't do snorkeling, which was the deciding factor for booking this tour. We could have done a sunset cruise or a dinner cruise but I chose this one because of the snorkeling, and we didn't do that due to being late in the season. Our cruise was 4 hours not 5 as advertised, although my husband was thrilled because he wasn't feeling well despite the remedies offered. We should have premedicated so that is on us. I would definitely use them again because of the crew. The fun factor was fantastic and they were extremely attentive and taught a lot about the Hawaiian culture and the significance of the places we saw. The 🌈 were brilliant and a memory I will cherish.

The crew was fabulous! They were personable, knowledgeable, safety conscious, and we all sang to the music all day. Snorkeling was good. We saw schools of tropical fish and green sea turtles on the coral reef. The Napoli coast is magnificent ! Waterfalls, sea caves, waterfalls inside sea caves, 3000 foot cliffs and massive valleys, and we saw it all. All along the way, the crew shared Hawaiian history of the people who once lived in this area If you want a fun and an immersive experience of Kauai, take this trip.

Truly a once in a lifetime experience. We really lucked out with the calm and clear weather, and we did experience some rain and choppiness on the way back from the morning tour. A lot of experiences are weather and time of year related, and we were lucky enough to see spinner dolphins and a whale. We were not able to snorkel, but our group was able to take a swim. The guides and captain were amazingly friendly, knowledgeable, and had our safety and comfort at the top of their mind. If you are nervous about motion sickness, take the proper precautions. I have been sick on charters elsewhere, but prepared this for this one with anti-nausea meds and acupressure bracelets, and while I did not get sick- I did still experience nausea. If you are not used to choppy water, I would recommend similar precautions. Prepare to get a little wet, again this is dependent on the time you go. I was soaked from when we were under a waterfall in the mouth of a sea cave. Again, I can’t emphasize enough what an amazing experience this was.

Amazing coastline, AA is an amazing captain!!! Love everything - getting into the caves, watching dolphins swimming around us, swimming in front of the crazy view, and AA telling storied really fast. Just wish that we could come back for snorkeling next time

One of the most amazing experiences in my life. We were a wedding party and the whole tour was absolutely magical and the perfect way to end seeing our friends and family on our trip. We saw dolphins, incredible views. The captains were sooo knowledgeable about everything we were seeing on the coast - I learned so much. We also swam at sunset, since the weather was clear. It was amazing. The captain and crew were so thoughtful, helpful, and kind and fun to hang with. Lunch was great. They also had a bathroom on the boat which was super convenient. 1000/10 will absolutely tour again with these guys! And they took amazing pics of everyone!

What a fun trip! The crew was awesome, knowledgeable, and fun to be around. We saw so many beautiful spots along the coast. The spinner dolphins were amazing. The caves were spectacular and the scenery was unbeatable. Highly recommend!

We did the Na Pali coast tour on the Amelia K on October 7, 2025 and had a wonderful time! The crew contacted us several times beforehand so that we knew exactly where to go and what to expect. Once we met the crew, they could not have been nicer or more helpful. You could tell that they loved the area and shared their knowledge of its history and culture. The scenery was amazing, the provided lunch and beverages were very good, we had the opportunity to snorkel or just hang out in the water and we saw THREE pods of dolphins! Highly recommend this tour.

Lilly, Rob and Lionel were so fun and professional. Constantly checking on everyone’s needs more than most highly accommodating restaurants(I’d know my mom dad girlfriend and myself are all/were servers). Such a unique experience I couldn’t recommend enough. I get sea sick super easy can usually ruin my day. Dramamine was a great help but the boat sails so smooth it may not be necessary for some. Keep that in mind I almost didn’t book because how easily sick I get and it never even hit me!

We went out of the Na Pali Kai III on the September 30 morning tour and had the best time. The crew was absolutely fantastic, the views were stunning. Had a great lunch of a deli sandwich, chips and soft drinks and water. Conditions didn't allow for cave entry or snorkeling but we were allowed to jump in the water for a little while. We saw dozens of dolphins. We even saw a military plane take off from the base and a helicopter that looked like it was carrying a missile(last two pics). The crew shared lots of stories of Kaua’i history.
