From the moment we were greeted by our guide Alex—with a warm smile and a fresh pretzel in hand—we knew this wasn’t going to be just another tour. It felt personal from the very start. What followed was a beautifully woven journey through Bucharest’s history, culture, and food scene. We wandered through a charming old residential neighbourhood, where every street seemed to tell a different story—elegant Belle Époque villas sitting alongside Art Deco gems, Neo-Romanian details, and the stark, imposing lines of communist-era Brutalist buildings. Alex brought it all to life with such depth and clarity, answering every question with genuine passion and offering insights into what life was like before the revolution that you simply wouldn’t get from a guidebook. Our first food stop set the tone perfectly: a cozy local eatery where we raised a glass of traditional plum liquor and shared a selection of regional cheeses and dips with fresh bread. It felt less like a tasting and more like being welcomed into Romanian culture. From there, we hopped on a tram—adding a real sense of local life to the experience—and headed to a bustling market. Here, the energy shifted in the best possible way. Among the fruit and vegetable stalls, we saw everyday Bucharest in motion. We paused at a small beer spot to sample local brews, paired with more delicious cheeses and wild boar pastrami—simple, authentic, and unforgettable. The highlight? Standing at a street food vendor, eating freshly grilled mici—juicy, smoky, and absolutely packed with flavour. It’s one of those moments that stays with you long after the trip ends. We wrapped up with traditional doughnuts (sweet, indulgent, and completely worth it) before taking the tram back, full in every sense of the word. If you’re someone who connects to a place through its food, its stories, and its people, this tour is something special. It’s not just about tasting Bucharest—it’s about understanding it.

Tokyo food tour after dark

Our tour guide May was amazing sharing lots of hidden Tokyo eateries and suggesting other places to eat during our stay in Tokyo. Encouraging to try foods that are not common in Australia and organised last minute change in food to avoid my food allergy. We certainly recommend a food tour with May.

The perfect “insider” intro to Florence

Overall this gave us a great overview of Tuscan food and highlights of the history around it. Chiara was such a great guide who was very personable and knowledgeable about everything Florence (food, wine, culture, etc). We were unsure about a walking tour but we are glad we did this early on during our stay in Florence to give us a lay of the land and places to revisit. We also got super lucky with just one other couple in our group so the tour felt very intimate, like a friend showing us around her favorite city :) would recommend!

The guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. The food samples were hit and miss. Nothing I would ever want to try again. But peoples opinions of food are very subjective. I did enjoy the tour and if you have never been to Brooklyn I would recommend you give this tour a try. But the food samples were not a highlight.
