If you come to Romania this visit is always recommended as a must. However, the queue was really long and it turns out that getting the tickets in advance does nothing for you unless you get the fast pass. Definitely not worth to pay the 130 RON per person (26€ approximately) of the fast pass to skip the 1 hour queue. We went on a Monday morning and had to wait for a little more than an hour to get into the castle and it was really crowded. Definitely not worth it if you compare it with other famous castles in Europe or Romania. Would recommend to go and get some souvenirs and take pictures of the castle from afar, but that’s about it. Make sure to bring cash, for the souvenir shops.

Bran Castle is definitely cool to see, but unfortunately, I can only give the overall experience 3 out of 5. While walking around, I couldn’t help having two thoughts in the back of my mind: would Bran Castle be anywhere near as famous without Bram Stoker’s Dracula and all the Hollywood movies that followed? Probably not! And secondly, I couldn’t shake the feeling that the whole experience had become more of an opportunity to make money from the Dracula connection than anything else. The castle itself is interesting, with some great views and history, but for us, the overall experience simply wasn’t worth the cost or the time. We spent close to £60 for the family to enter, queued for over an hour, and then only spent around 30–45 minutes actually walking around the castle. The ticketing and entry system also felt quite disorganised, especially for such a famous and popular attraction. When you add everything together — the price, the long queue, the crowds and the relatively short amount of time actually inside — it just didn’t feel like particularly good value. There are so many beautiful and interesting things to see and do in this part of Romania that, personally, I’d rather spend the time and money exploring somewhere else. But that’s only my opinion! If you’re a huge Dracula fan or Bran Castle has always been on your bucket list, then it’s probably still something you’ll want to experience for yourself. 3 out of 5 from us. 🧛🏰
