Lovely place, Visited with kids! We love the castle itself and the torture rooms experience.. I would not recommend the time tunnel though.. we paid 4x Lei 30 = 120 Lei to go down a lift.. and see nothing.. the rest of the castle was great!

(Translated by Google) It's not Dracula's castle, but it's good. As an educational and historical experience, it's worth seeing, plus the prices are affordable, and the base of the castle is full of stalls where you can buy all kinds of souvenirs. (Original) No es el castillo de Dracula pero está bien, como experiencia educativa y histórica se puede ver, además los precios son asequibles, la base del castillo está lleno de puestecillos donde poder comprar todo tipo de recuerdos.

(Translated by Google) If you've ever dreamed of walking through the halls of a Gothic castle perched atop a hill, Bran Castle in Romania is the perfect place to let your imagination run wild… and maybe even encounter Dracula himself. While there's no historical evidence that Vlad the Impaler (the inspiration for Dracula) ever lived here, the mysterious atmosphere, imposing towers, and location in the heart of the Carpathian Mountains make it the ideal setting for a vampire tale. The castle itself is smaller than you might expect, but it's well-preserved and offers a blend of medieval architecture and traditional Romanian elements. Inside, you'll find antique furniture, secret passageways, and an exhibit about Vlad Tepes and the Dracula myth. The view from the top is breathtaking, and the tour transports you to another era. Just be prepared for crowds, especially during peak season, and for the abundance of vampire merchandise in the surrounding area. Is it worth it? Absolutely! Whether for the history, the legend, or simply to feel like you're in a horror story, Bran Castle is a must-see in Transylvania.

Visiting Bran Castle was a bucket list experience, especially as the supposed inspiration for Dracula’s iconic castle. We made the trip as part of a longer coach tour from Bucharest, with stops at Bran Castle, Brasov, and Peles Castle. While we expected Bran Castle to be the highlight of the day, it was completely overshadowed by the stunning Peles Castle. Pros: Breathtaking Journey: The drive through Transylvania was a highlight in itself, with picturesque views of the Carpathian mountains and charming Romanian countryside. Stunning Exterior: Bran Castle’s exterior is undeniably beautiful. The sight of the castle perched against a dramatic mountain backdrop as you approach is nothing short of spectacular. Charming Surroundings: The grounds around the castle feature small market stalls offering local souvenirs and food, along with several nearby cafes and eateries to enjoy a break. Lovely Interiors: The few staged rooms and courtyards available for viewing were well presented, providing a glimpse into the castle’s past. Cons: Underwhelming Interior Experience: The tour of the castle’s interior was surprisingly brief, lasting no more than 20 minutes. With only a few rooms to explore, many filled with little more than tables and chairs. The experience felt lacking in detail and depth. Limited Historical Insight: Our guide on the bus gave us more history than the castle itself. While Bran Castle has a rich history with many occupants and its Dracula lore, the displays inside barely scratched the surface. Overcrowded and Rushed: The day we visited, the castle was very crowded, with tour groups ahead and behind us. The narrow corridors and tight stairways made the experience feel even more confined, and there was little opportunity to stop and take in the surroundings properly. Disappointing Souvenir Shop: The gift shop at the end of the tour had a limited selection of items, and the prices were quite steep. Didn’t Meet Expectations: Bran Castle is a classic 'tick it off the list' attraction but didn’t quite live up to its legendary status. While it was enjoyable, it wasn’t mind-blowing, awe-inspiring, or jaw-dropping. Final Thoughts: Bran Castle is worth a visit for its iconic status and beautiful exterior, but set your expectations accordingly. If you’re looking for a truly spectacular castle experience in Romania, Peles Castle is one to visit. It offers a richer history, more to explore, and a genuinely captivating experience.
