That said, our group was found the trip worthwhile. The castle courtyard offers genuinely picturesque views, and there's something undeniably charming about exploring the ancient rooms and winding stairwells with their centuries of history. We opted for the torture chamber add-on (extra fee), which featured historical replica instruments along with educational descriptions of their use throughout medieval times. Quite grim, but interesting nonetheless! While I wouldn't visit again, I do consider it worth experiencing once if you're in the region. A tip note about timing: Contrary to popular advice suggesting arrival before 11:00 AM, our experience suggests the opposite. We showed up around 10:30 AM on a Saturday to find massive lines of tour groups (likely because tours from Bucharest typically arrive then). However, when departing around 1:00 PM, we noticed virtually no entry line and only a short wait at the ticket machines. You might consider planning a visit as it opens or an afternoon visit instead to avoid the morning rush.
