Nice castle and worth visiting :) The highlight for me was seeing the torture tools - you pay extra 20lei for that - again not a problem - I recommend pre booking the tickets online and enough to show on the phone screen 4 stars because the groups coming with tour guide just occupy everything basically spread like elephants in the wild you can’t go around freely as individual visitors unless you push your way through the crowd ! P.S. tons of stairs and tight spaces so if you have claustrophobia might reconsider …. Or just wait in the courtyard …

Dreadful experience if I’m honest. Massive tourist trap. Yes, we didn’t have to wait and we thought from the outside that the crowds weren’t going to be big, but once you get inside it’s utter chaos. Tour guides are generally very obnoxious, only caring about their own groups, blocking entire doors and exits. Long waits just to climb stairs. Vlad Tepes may have never actually entered the castle, yet it still plays off the book to the extent of having tacky werewolf and Dracula exhibits on the inside. Really poorly managed. There’s much better castles and citadels in Râşnov and Sinaia which are so much easier to get to without a car. Would not recommend going here, do your research on local Romanian history and you’ll find so many more authentic sites with much smaller crowds.
