It's made it into my top three markets ever visited. But back to the castle itself. After that hour, the queue was indeed a bit more relaxed. We only had to wait about 15 minutes... until we reached the ticket machines! And then?! Another hour or so before we even reached the actual castle entrance. And then? Well, I'd visited castles before where the crowds were dispersed due to the castle's spaciousness. But not here! The visitors were herded through the castle in exactly the same queue we'd just experienced. Escaping was impossible. In short: We were glad to be outside again. As I said: Seeing the castle, at least from the outside, is a must if you're in the area. And the market is definitely worth a visit. But I would never go inside the castle again. Allein schonmal wegen der Dracula-Legende sollte man das Schloss wenigstens mal von Außen live gesehen haben. Ob man auch reingehen sollte? Naja, grundsätzlich ist das Schlossinnere nicht uninteressant. Aber!!! Wir wollten schlau und die Ersten sein und waren etwa 20 Minuten vor Öffnungsbeginn dort. Als wir allerdings die scheinbar unendlich lange Schlange all der "schlauen" Leute gesehen hatten, wollten wir noch schlauer sein und verbrachten erstmal eine gute Stunde auf dem vorgelagerten Markt. Natürlich in der Hoffnung, dass der Einlass anschließend entspannter sein würde. Ich muss aufgrund meines negativ angehauchten Einstiegs dieser Bewertung an dieser Stelle unbedingt sagen, dass dieser Markt allein schon die Reise zu diesem Ort wert ist. Der hat es in die Top 3 meiner jeh besuchten Märkte geschafft. Aber weiter zum eigentlichen Schloss. Nach dieser Stunde war die Warteschlange tatsächlich etwas entspannter. Nur etwa 15 Minuten mussten wir anstehen... bis zu den Kassenautomaten! Und dann?! Nochmal eine knappe Stunde vor dem eigentlichen Schlosseingang. Und dann? Naja, ich hatte zuvor schon Schlösser besucht, in denen sich die Menschenmassen aufgrund der Großräumigkeit des Schlosses verteilt hatten. Aber hier nicht! Die Besucher wurden in exakt der zuvor erlebten Warteschlange durch das Schloss geschlängert. Ein Ausbrechen war unmöglich. Kurzum: Wir waren froh, als wir wieder draußen waren. Wie gesagt: Das Schloss wenigstens von außen mal gesehen zu haben ist ein Muss, wenn man schon mal in der Nähe ist. Und der Markt sowieso. Ins Schloss reingehen würde ich nie wieder.

However, the exhibition halls were monotonous, without any relevant information about the real history or the real “Count Dracula”. Instead, there were strange decorations, werewolves and other animations that seemed more like something from a children's amusement park, not at all suitable for a historical castle. My conclusion: You can avoid the crowds in the morning, but the content of the visit is disappointing. Too touristy, too crowded and almost no historical value – unfortunately, I don't recommend it.
