Unfortunately the castle is overhyped, heavily promoted as "THE Dracula's castle". In reality, aside from its appearance, there is no factual evidence that it was the main residence of Vlad Tepes (let alone the legendary vampiric count). The huge number of tourists "looking for Dracula" makes it harder to enjoy the real meaning of this place. The exhibitions inside tell the actual story of the castle (including which rulers lived here, etc.) as well as a short digital exhibition of local Romanian folklore beasts, monsters and so on. The castle itself is beautiful as well as the surrounding gardens. Unfortunately, even the outside area is closed to dogs.

While it's not the real Dracula's Castle which is about 3ish hours away (Peonari Citadel---where the true Vladimir the Impaler lived.... it's well organized and a fun place to visit.

If you come here thinking you can still do something for free you are wrong. 3€ on parking and then to even enter the grounds to take a photo of the outside you need to pay 20€ per person. Sad to see a historical building turned into a money grab. I reccommend you visit Peles castle instead.

Bran is a beautiful town with stunning mountain views, and Bran Castle sits in a perfect spot surrounded by nature. The road leading up is lined with restaurants and shops offering traditional Transylvanian snacks and desserts, which really adds to the charm. There’s also a lively market full of souvenirs and Dracula-themed gifts. Even without going inside the castle, we enjoyed the scenery and the local food — well worth a visit.
