Worthwhile castle visit, especially if you're into Dracula tales, or a history nut. Get there early to avoid queuing uphill and on staircase. Do purchase tickets online at least 1 day ahead to get the QR code in time (I got an online ticket last minute and has a hassle getting in without the QR code), or just get it once you enter the castle entrance area. Das Schloss an sich ist sehr schön, persönlich hätten mir noch ein paar mehr Tafeln zur allgemeinen Geschichte gefallen, um den Werdegang des Schlosses besser in einen Zusammenhang zu bringen. Während unseres Aufenthaltes gab es eine zusätzliche Ausstellung zu Fabelwesen der rumänischen Mythologie. Größtenteils war diese Ausstellung Video und Kostüm basiert, was für einen eher unseriösen Eindruck gesorgt hat. Die Mythologie hinter der Ausstellung war sehr interessant, die Umsetzung war meine Meinung nach ein wenig unglücklich. Das Schloss wie auch alles um das Schloss herum ist sehr touristisch erschlossen. Preise sind dementsprechend nicht niedrig.

Despite other reviews about how this is "bland" and "bare" I guess it's down to personal expectation and preference of interior decoration! It's very rustic inside and tells the story of the Romanian Royal Family who lived there and their exploits. Lots of beautiful things to look at, especially if you do like the old, wooden rustic look. Views from the top are beautiful, especially as it had been snowing when we went. Plenty to explore and read about. There's the option of paying extra for dungeons etc but we didn't do that. We've seen the same at Warwick! And most of all, it has the story of Dracula attached to it. Don't expect there to be any mention of it actually on the tour, but in the gift shop and outside, around the grounds there are plenty of vampire and Dracula based souvenirs. Some better than others! Make sure you go round them all, because the prices DO vary from stall to stall. We loved it.
