We took the guided tour, and unfortunately, we were part of a very large group, which was difficult for the guide to manage. He tried his best, but we expected to hear more historical facts and instead got basic stories and legends that were pure tourist trap. If there were any original artifacts, it was a shame to see them decorated with cobwebs, plastic rats, and other tasteless paraphernalia. I have never seen the collections and interiors of a historical monument desecrated in such a vile and unpleasant way. Staff were already installing cobwebs with poor logistics and during peak visiting hours, so there wasn't enough room for the crowd of tourists, plus the ladders, cables, and staff. Isn't this something they could have done after the tours ended? The torture exhibit and the tunnel are not worth the price, so if you decide to come, I recommend just buying the entrance fee and exploring on your own. It's definitely a waste of money and time for those of us looking for authentic, local experiences. The food outside is awful; we bought stale popcorn and mulled wine of the worst quality. Save your money and don't buy anything outside. Most of the souvenirs are made in China and are completely soulless and uninspired. If you're expecting to see Dracula in the "undead" flesh, you might be a little bit disappointed although there is quite a few little tidbits about Dracula, the Folklore he's based on, as well as many other spiritual ghosts and ghouls from Romanian tales. Highly recommend a visit but might not be ideal for someone who suffers from claustrophobia as there's many tight spaces and small entry ways, but that's just how these things were built back then.
