Our visit to the castle was extremely disappointing. First of all, the tour started earlier than indicated on the schedule, and we almost missed it because of that (it was the last guided tour of the day and the guide clearly wanted to go home as soon as possible). The website stated that the guided tour would last 1.5 hours, but in reality it lasted only around 45 minutes. I have some mobility problems, so to avoid slowing down the rest of the group, I took the stairs last. However, the guide never bothered to wait for me and my boyfriend. He was already explaining stories and information while I was still on the stairs. In such a small group, it is impossible not to notice that 2 out of 6 people are missing. It felt extremely disrespectful and inconsiderate. The tour itself was also very poor. In the torture room, the guide simply told us to “look at the pictures” without giving any explanations or additional information. At the end of the tour, he disappeared without saying a single word and left the group alone. It costs nothing to simply say, “I will be back in a few minutes.” Overall, this visit was a complete waste of time and money. The experience was unprofessional, rushed, and very disappointing. Better go to Brasov and spend this money some nice dinner there.

It is way too hyped. Its got nothing to do with history of Vlad (Dracula). I would recommend rather visiting Peles and Pelesor castle. Probably nice for children as there are some rooms with some Romanian mythological creatures.

Beautiful medieval castle. Very busy, so would be worth looking for times when it may not be so crowded as you do get a little rushed through by the crowds. Tonnes of history and it's all so fascinating. Connection to Vlad Tepes and the vampire legends is played on quite heavily, but is worth it for anyone who is interested in the lore surrounding Dracula and/ Vlad the Impaler.
