Bran Castle Review: Fun but Overpriced and Overcrowded The Experience: Bran Castle is a beautiful structure with fantastic views and a distinct, fairytale-like atmosphere. The grounds and the castle itself are very well maintained, and they have good, clean bathrooms on site. The Crowd & Timing: Be prepared for ridiculous amounts of people. We arrived 30 minutes before opening and still had to wait in a long line. Because of the crowd flow, we moved through the whole thing in about 40 minutes. The Dracula Hype: The Dracula tie-in is incredibly over the top. If you read the actual history, there is no major connection to Vlad the Impaler other than the fact that he may have stayed there a time or two. Value: Because the visit is so short, the ticket price feels overly expensive for the amount of time you actually spend inside the castle. TL;DR: A fun, highly photogenic castle to see in Transylvania, but expect high prices, heavy crowds, and a lot of Dracula marketing.

What a cool castle. We got there around 11 30 on Monday, and waited till 12 when it opened there were quite a few people there but not enough to feel super crowded. The castle itself is very cool, and has lot of rooms that you can visit. The torture exhibition is extra and so is a little 3dish elevator ride that is overrated. Otherwise it is a really cool niche castle that I would for sure visit again.

What you DON'T know about Bran Castle is that it is home of the Transylvania 100K Ultra Marathon - a 100k/60 mile run through the Transylvanian countryside - rain, snow, or sun. If you don't know anything about this absolutely fabulous ultra marathon, check it out. The greatest athletes in the world in one of the most scenic and historic places in the world. Can't beat that.
