I took this tour in 2019 and was excited to go back with my wife and daughter. Although the tour guide was very friendly and engaging, we found the choice of restaurants to be underwhelming. It felt like we didn’t really get the value for the cost. Previous food tours in other cities left us excited, wasn’t the same outcome with this food tour. They should reconsider restaurant choices, as we wouldn’t visit any of those restaurants.

Amazing Experience

We booked a three-hour experience and were fortunate to have Rai as our guide. Despite the rain, he brought us to four fantastic spots, each unique and memorable. He even stayed an extra hour so we could complete the full tour. I would recommend it to anyone visiting.

We had such a wonderful time with Saika on our food tour! We had lots of great food, drinks, and got to see all the sites of Shibuya that we would not have experienced on our own. Thank you Saika for making our first day in Tokyo so fun and memorable!

Amazing way to authentically visit Harajuku

Our guide was very knowledgeable and super accommodating. She was also super patient with my overly chatty children! The food stops were well spaced, had local vibes, and were a great variety of savory/sweet. I’ve been on food walking tours all over the world and this was one of the better ones I’ve gone on.

Fishmarket Tour (Tokyo)

Makkiko was a wonderful guide. She was not only warm and welcoming, but also knew the area very well. We ate our way through the fish market with her. She is the best!

Jane was amazing. We took a three hour tour with her of the fish market and learned so much. Jane did a great job of sharing the culture and the the hidden gems of the market. She also listened to the guests and made sure she catered to what we wanted to get out of it.

A wonderful experience! Our tour started on time. A perfect meeting location. The summary provided on Trip Advisor is 100% accurate. You will visit several wonderful small eateries with menus from across Japan as well as learn about Japanese dining customs & practices. My only wish is that we had this tour at the beginning of our trip. Ray, our guide-extordinare was just perfect! His love & passion for his adopted country made the evening very special. The pace was just right & the restaurant choices were wonderful. Ray is very knowledgeable, friendly & professional. A delightful genuine person. His assistant Maria was charming and had much to share & contribute. Please make sure to have a good appetite! No snacking before hand! :-)

Find some hidden gems!

Meeca was a fantastic tour guide. She was very knowledgeable and took us to many hidden gems that we would never have found on our own. There were several cool little activities for our 7 year old daughter mixed into the tour and she really felt a part of it.

Delicious Food Tour at Kyoto's Nishiki Market

We did a food tour of Nishiki market in Kyoto. Ana was our guide. It was an amazing experience. She explained the history of the market, the food and shared interesting Kyoto/Japan facts with us. She accomodated our tastes and we felt very comfortable passing on octopus w quail egg. Highlights included beef curry bread, yuzu honey hot drink, gluten bread, cake that looked like a fish w chocolate cream insife, different types of furikake, sesame specialty store, obanzai restaurant for lunch, soy milk donuts, 7 spice ice cream and more. Lots of snacks plus sit down lunch were included in the tour ticket price. Ana is from Portugal. She speaks English, Japanese and Portugese. She's delightful. We got lucky. Only the two of us on the tour bc it's February, not busy.

Perfect Fun Holiday Activity

What an experience! Highly recommend booking this food tour on your visit to Tokyo. My partner and I had such a fun time and learnt so much about Japanese food and tried things we would have never thought to try on the tour!! After trying the pepper chicken wings Raikhan showed us, we ate them eveywhere we went around Japan - they were that good!

A range of foods in an iconic fashion neighborhood

We took the tour with just our family of 3! Our guide, Hannah, was knowledge and extremely patient with our toddler. The tour itself took covered lots of different foods (not just sweets), while winding through Harajuku. Though not inexpensive, we had a positive and delicious day!

Fun experience for all ages with surprise activity at the end

Serena and Melody were awesome guides. Each member of our family had a blast exploring Harajuku and trying different foods. The guides had lots of great stories and anecdotes and tailored to each person in our group (ages 10-50). We loved the surprise activity at the end! The food was delicious and fun... but calling it "cute food" is a bit of a misnomer. But we did see a lot of fun stuff on the tour.

Private Tsukiji Breakfast Tour

We just returned from Japan so I wanted to definitely sit down and make the time to tell the world about some of the tours and places we visited. We had an opportunity to take a morning tour of Tsukiji fish market ("Private Tsukiji Breakfast") in Tokyo with Shigeki-san of Arigato travel. This was our 2nd visit to Tsukiji and our first visit was with a tour guide as well. However, the difference was night and day. Our first tour was more of a person who just walked the stalls with us speaking Japanese when we wanted to order something. Helpful, but not in-depth by any means. Shigeki-san gave us the full treatment including a carefully thought-out plan including a coffee while we discussed our day, a quick sit-down bite to eat before we got started on the tour, bites of traditional and new tik-tok-y type of foods and recommendations on where we should come back should we want to buy anything like knives or a wasabi-grater. I'm in my 50's and I've loved Japanese culture for a while and I will even admit that I learned 3 or 4 new things on this tour. My entire family had an absolute blast picking out our foods while walking the stalls of Tsukiji, then sitting down for our "picnic" to enjoy them when we were done. Shigeki-san was an excellent host - upbeat, knowledgeable, and very friendly. We highly recommend him and this tour at Arigato Travel/Food Tours.

Shibuya Food Tour

We had a Shibuya tour with Sandra. The 6 of us all really enjoyed all the small locations we went to. We also went through places that weren’t food related as well, which have ended up returning too as a result of the tour. Would definitely book again & definitely recommend.
