Nice experience of Medoc wines

The tour of wineries was very nice. We did a separate tour of the St. Emilion area, so it was nice to compare the different Bourdeaux styles. The wineries we visited in Medoc were enjoyable, and we had sufficient time for a lunch stop. Our guide was pleasant, but not highly informative or talkative. He sat in the van during all of the tastings, which was the opposite of other tour guides we've had, so he didn't seem very engaged.

Wonderful experience of Alsace

The trip did exactly what it promised- a walk through Colmar, eguisheim and Riquewihr and a visit to the castle. Our guide Jerome was excellent- very knowledgeable but not needing to talk non-stop and drove very safely.

Good if you’re more interested in sightseeing than wine tasting

Mirella worked hard to make this a good experience. We visited three vineyards: • Château Prieuré-Lichine, ( a Grand Cru Classé since 1855) where we had an in depth tour of the property, and a slightly rushed tasting of 2 wines with no time to purchase • The incredibly industrial Chateau Larose Trintaudon, owned by the Allianz insurance company, where we had a very corporate, company style tour of the new facility and a tasting of two very cheap wines • A final and enjoyable tour of the small family-owned vineyard, Château Siran, with a tasting of 3 wines. Unfortunately we were always rushed at the critical points of the wine tasting and lot of time was spent driving - either for photos outside chateaux we couldn’t visit or between vineyards. What’s more we spent more than 1 hr 40 in Pauillac (a very small town with only 3 restaurants, with very limited menus, open- even the tourist information office was closed so this felt like a waste of time). It’s a shame that, unlike other companies, they don’t offer a picnic combined with a wine tasting as at least then you’d taste a reasonable number of wines and everyone would be able to eat! I wouldn’t say this tour was particularly good value - and it didn’t give a wide enough introduction or insight into Medoc wines.

It was a great tour! Lou was a delightful guide, knowledgeable and responsive to questions. The timing of everything, leaving Bayeux, arrival at the abbey, tour of the abbey, free time to lunch/shop, and the return was “just right”. Our group of 7 was a nice, diverse group of individuals. I highly recommend this tour!

The tour was great. Our tour guide Pascal was in police service in the past. He understood the story amazingly well. Took us to 3 different sites & explained the story throughout our journey. Even dropped us to railway station on our request. He was immensely passionate. Overall I would definitely recommend Ophorus for this tour. Be very careful if you are travelling from Paris for this tour. There’s no local transport in Bayeux. You have to walk up to nearby city centre. For lunch & you will have very less time to board the train once you are dropped back. You won’t get anything to eat in between. The bus was extremely comfortable. Sometimes the stories were a little overindulgent & we got very less time to click pictures & go around the places where we were dropped. May be that can be cut down. There were also places we could see with tanks but we weren’t stopped there.

The entire day was fantastic with Valentine, he was an exceptional tour guide. His overall knowledge of D-day and the battle of Normandy was impressive. Valentine was very enthusiastic and very detailed with many small and large aspects of the various locations. He takes much pride in his work he also is very appreciative of the many sacrifices made on D day and thereafter.

Don’t miss this 1 day tour

This 1 full day tour for a maximum of 8 passengers in a very comfortable van from Strasbourg is an absolute must! All 3 towns and castle that we visited were fabulous, with Thierry our guide a gem with many years of experience and interesting titbits of both actual history and legends to impart with his wonderful Alsacien enthusiasm. I was recommended this tour by several friends and relatives, and it surpassed even my high expectations.

Super experience of the wines in Medoc with very experienced and knowledgeable guides, winemakers and vineyard hosts

Wonderful vineyards and very professional tasting experience. Our guide,Laetitia, was very knowledgeable, experienced and welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed every one of the vineyards we visited with small, boutique, medium sized and older chateau giving great variety.

Fabulous Small-Group Wine Tour

We had a wonderful experience on a small group (8) tour led by Jerome. Pickup was easy and prompt in the main plaza in front of the train station, and transportation was in a comfortable Mercedes van. We visited two tasting rooms - Robert Blank in Obernai, and Fritz Schmitt in Ottrott. The tastings were well-presented, with a range of varietals and flavor profiles. Who would have thought that we would make it through not one but two tasting rooms in Alsace without sampling a Gewurtzraminer! Our guide Jerome was charming, informative, and energetic. As a sommelier, he had much to offer about the wines and the history of viticulture in the area. The company works with several producers in the area, visiting different wineries based on the day of the week. Would certainly repeat this tour to these wineries, and absolutely will schedule our next tour to experience different producers.
