Itinerary
Your locally sourced and fully trained driver / guide will take you from Galway on a coastal drive along the Wild Atlantic Way, through the Burren and up to the Cliffs of Moher. En route, you will pass medieval castles, beautiful little villages, fields of dry stone walls and amazing coastal views. Your driver / guide will entertain you with insights into the geology, history and stories of the landscapes in view.
Your first stop of the day is Dunguaire Castle (The Fort of Guaire) on the approach to Kinvara. This medieval tower house castle is one of the most photographed in all of Ireland. You will have a 20 minute stop here to take some photos of the castle. From here you will follow the Wild Atlantic Way through Ballyvaughan past Blackhead and Fanore towards the picturesque village of Doolin.
The pier in Doolin is a hive of activity during the summer months with ferries coming and going to the Aran Islands. During the summer months, there is an opportunity to join a Cliffs of Moher cruise, beneath the Cliffs of Moher. (Not included). During the winter months, the power of the Atlantic Ocean can be seen as well as felt as the waves crash onto the beach and shoreline.
We have a lunch (own cost) stop at Doolin Hotel , which offers a number of food outlets for a hearty lunch after the sea air at the pier and ahead of the Cliffs of Moher. After our lunch, we re-board the tour vehicle for the short drive to the Cliffs of Moher.
Once at the Cliffs of Moher, your driver / guide will present you with your entry ticket to the visitors centre, ticket included in tour price. The Cliffs of Moher is Ireland’s most visited natural attraction. Standing at 214 meters at their highest point and stretching out for 8 km along the Wild Atlantic Way. The Cliffs of Moher offer one of the most spectacular views in Ireland. Your ticket entitles you to admission to the eco-friendly visitor centre, The Atlantic Edge, exhibition brings the story of the cliffs to life.
After your Cliffs of Moher stop it is time to re-board the tour vehicle, sit back and relax while your driver / guide returns you to Galway via Lisdoonvarna and the heart of the Burren. The County Clare town of Lisdoonvarna is famous for its spa well and annual Matchmaking Festival. The Burren is one of the worlds best examples of a Glacio-Karst landscape and from the tour vehicle today you will get amazing views of this lunar-like landscape. Where possible the tour vehicle will stop for photo opportunities. Our Cliffs of Moher and Burren tour returns to the departure point on Merchants Road, Galway. Time to say a final 'Good Bye' or 'Slan Abhaile' to our driver / guide.

Traveler reviews
Great to experience and Alan was phenomenal!
Excellent day with Alan! Great sites, well organized and very informative!
Underwhelming, overpriced and frankly boring
The guide was nice enough, but overall the price for what was received felt incredibly underwhelming. I could have rented a car for the day and had a cheaper experience with more in it. It felt like a seniors summit and didn't deliver anything more than views through an incredibly bumpy bus that made me car sick. The stop for lunch was also boring. There was nothing to do or see and there was only 1 food option which made it seem very tourist trap like. Overall I wouldn't book another.
Wonders in nature never cease.
Trip with Ireland Wild Escapes was great, and the guide very knowledgeable. Gerry did an excellent job. The weather there is unpredictable and that limited my photography and bird sightings.
Beautiful Cliffs of Mohr.
Well worth the trip!! Phil knows everybody and all the best spots! All the stops were fun and interesting.
A quick but thorough look...
A quick but informative look at some great local sights, with helpful and entertaining commentary. He is a good driver too, a necessity on narrow twisty roads.
