Delicious oysters and fun, informative Oyster farm tour
Owner Padraig was an extremely personable and knowledgeable guide! We not only learned about how oysters are farmed, but the history of aquaculture in Ireland and importance of sustainable farming. Also learned how independent farmers have to work hard and diversify in order to thrive and protect County Mayo's precious resources. Absolutely delicious oysters and service from Mark and Chef Louise, as well!
Not to be missed
This was for sure one of the main highlights of our trip to Ireland. The tour was so informative and interesting. You can tell the family's love for their work. We had the most delicious oysters straight from the sea. A definite must for oyster lovers and those who want to try them!
Great visit but book directly with enterprise.
I really enjoyed this experience - interesting, fun and some delicious oysters to eat. However, as a result of booking it through Tripadvisor, I wound up paying 159 euro for something that would have cost 120 euro (3 adults), booked directly. I accept that there has to be a mark up but 30% seems excessive. This enterprise is called Croagh Patrick Seafoods (which I didn't know at time of booking as Tripadvisors listing is a little coy). The website is easily found when you know what you're looking for.
A Highlight of our Holiday
The oyster tour at Croagh Patrick was a birthday event for my oyster-loving husband. It was one of the best things we did on our holiday! Padraic's tour was the perfect combination of fun and informative. And the oysters - delicious! If you're looking for an authentic Irish experience, this is the one!
Lovely little experience!
Spectacular experience And well worth a visit, delicious oysters and a lovely little restaurant to enjoy them in. Padraig and his son showed us a lovely time and you can tell how passionate they are about aquaculture and we learned a lot! We will be recommending this to everyone we speak to!
