Itinerary
Pass by: We will cross the suthern suburbs of Athens to enjoy the seaside areas, called the Athenian Riviera.
Pass by: We will drive by Voula.
Pass by: We will drive by Vouliagmeni with the luxurious hotels and the famous lake protected by Natura 2000.
Pass by: We will drive by Varkiza.
Pass by: We will drive by Anavyssos.
On entering the site you will see the dominating Temple of Poseidon, the ancient Greek god of the sea, surrounded by the remains of fornications, the gateway (porticos) and houses. Close by are also see the remains of the temple Athena Souniada. Besides its unique location and its archeological interest, Cape Sounio is also famous for its breathtaking sunset and view of the Greek Islands. It is rightly considered one of the most romantic places in Greece.

Incredible, bucket list, authentic
The experience was amazing! Panos was very knowledgeable about both the history and mythology. I had 2 daughters with me, 8 yo and 12 yo. He was able to keep them engaged. Of course the temple of Poseidon was an incredible site that was a must-see after the acropolis. On the way back he stopped at one of the villages and we had an amazing authentic Greek dinner at a restaurant on the sea with the waves lapping at the ground about 2 meters from my toes. This was our second tour with Panos and he takes extra time to get to know you and connect with you!
Fantastic Tour & Guide
Great trip. Terry was our driver and knows a ton about Greek history and the history of the area & temple specifically. He was very accommodating and made the tour very relaxing. We got lucky and had the temple to ourselves, it’s a very beautiful area and cool to see. As is the lake we stopped at on the way. When we come back to Greece there are other tours I want to do and we’ll be requesting Terry for them.
Beautiful sunst and dinner at Poseidon’s Temple
The drive along the coast to Poseidon’s Temple is a must do. We have dinner at the tavern by the bay looking at the Temple and watching the sunset. It was spectacular. Our driver Manos was the best!
