Itinerary
Pass by: Pick up
Moving on we will continue to Ancient Corinth. The city dominated by the hill of Acrocorinth. The site located at the foot of the hill includes the Roman Agora of Corinth, the temple of god Apollo and a small museum. Apart from its archaeological and historical interest Ancient Corinth is also one of the most popular religious destinations in Greece as this was where the Apostle Paul preached Christianity, was judged by the tribunal in the Agora and established the best organized Christian church of that period.
The temple of Apollo at Corinth is one of the earliest Doric temples in the Peloponnese and the Greek mainland. Built around 560 B.C.E., of local monolithic limestone on top of an imposing, rocky hill to the north of Acrocorinth, the Archaic temple was an emblem for the Greek city of Corinth, reflecting its growth and prosperity.
We will visit the castle of Acrocorinth, the oldest and largest castle in southern Greece, for some amazing photos.
Pass by: After the visit to the site, we will head towards one of the Nemean wineries. Driving through the grape yards of the largest wine production zone in Greece, we will visit one of the best wineries. People will gladly give you a small tour showing you the grape yards, the storage barrels, explaining you the procedure that takes place until the bottling. In the end, you will be offered to taste some of their best varieties while having a view of the Nemean Valley.

Archaeological site and Museum of Nemea shows you interesting things about the Nemean Pan Hellenic Games.
Lastly, we will drive towards the city of Nafplio for our last stop, considered the most scenic city, it functioned as the capital of Greece until 1834.
Pass by: After walking in the idyllic old city we will stop for lunch at a traditional tavern by the sea, and drive up to the castle of Acronafplia for a panoramic view of Nafplio.
Pass by: Nafplio offers you an outstanding combination of fortresses and castles (Palamidi), Bourtzi, a huge port opened to the Aegean Sea and the unique architecture of the old city of Nafplion revealing Venetian, neoclassical and oriental elements.
Pass by: Then we will start for our way back following the eastern coast of Peloponnese peninsula to reach Athens again.
The tour starts with a drive along the coast, on the way you will view some Greek seaside villages and the island of Salamis (where the historical naval battle took place between the Athenians and the Persians). Our first stop the Corinth Canal. Opened in 1892 separating the Peloponnese peninsula from the rest of Greece and connecting the Saronic Gulf to the Corinthian Sea. You will have time to walk across on a pedestrian bridge to admire the canal closer.

Traveler reviews
Lovely historic drive away from the city with a taste of wine to soothe our parched throats
We were met at our Athens hotel by our very knowledgeable driver, Terry. We had a great, very informative, yet long day with him. We started by driving from a city centre hotel to the Corinth Canal for quick picks and a walk across it. We visited lots of sites, including Ancient Nemea and the Temple of Zeus, which we enjoyed. We would skip to the stadium as few historic objects remain. The trip to the top of the hillside for a short hike to the castle doors was also nice. Time only allowed for about a 30-minute visit, which was just enough to snap a few great photos. Our winery visit did not include a tour of the fields (e.g., vineyards) as their new tasting room location is not convenient. Instead, we received only an inside tour of their barrel room. We have visited many wineries around the world, so it was fine to miss a tour on this visit. The four wine tastings were nice, and they came with nibbles including bread pieces with olive oil, local raisins and chunks of cheese. We had lunch on the coast, which was a bit of a drive. We suggest offering additional food selections at the winery in the future, perhaps paired with a glass of wine. Their wine was very tasty. We would recommend the tour to anyone interested in a full-day historic tour.
Great day !
Great Day! We went to so many places. Great variety of sights to see and guide was very knowledgeable. Would recommend this tour.
Best guide for Athens and surrounding areas
Manos was the best guide for Athens and the Namea/Corinth region. He allowed me to customize my itinerary and offered many helpful suggestions how to use the time. He also helped me avoid the crowd so I could get very close shots of the guard change ceremony. Go with Manos it won’t be wrong.
Wonderful!
Wonderful experience! From the time we were picked up, Elias took very good care of us! He was amazing— tweaked our trip according to our interests, and anticipated our needs! He was also very knowledgeable of Greek history and the sites we visited! The winery tour-tasting was a highlight of the day. They were nestled in the green vineyards and surrounded by mountains. They also used ancient clay jar aging process. This was the best Cabernet we have EVER tasted. Elias provided an unforgettable experience for us!
Wonderful day
We had an excellent day on The Wine Roads Tour. A good variety of things to see and our guide was very informative. Plenty of time to see everything and the guide never made us feel rushed. The wine was great too.
