Full description
This small-group day trip goes from Paris to Normandy by train. The train leaves Paris before 7:00 a.m. Your guide meets you at the main rail station in Caen. The full day runs about 13 hours, with a return to Paris the same evening.
The morning is a guided tour of the Caen Memorial, the D-Day museum built in 1988 above a German command bunker. The exhibits run from the path to war through the D-Day preparations and the Battle of Normandy. Lunch at the Memorial is included.
The afternoon covers the American sector. You walk Omaha Beach, the main U.S. landing beach on June 6, 1944, then Pointe du Hoc, where Army Rangers scaled the cliffs and the bomb craters and German bunkers remain.
The day ends at the Normandy American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer, timed for the Taps ceremony when the schedule permits.
Groups are capped at 7 guests. The tour runs daily except Sundays and major holidays. Price is $260 per person, $382 with 2nd-class rail, or $475 with 1st-class rail.

- Normandy can be chilly even in summer. Dress appropriately.
- Prepare to arrive at Gare Saint Lazare 20 minutes before your train departure time.
- Food isn't served on the Paris to Caen route. Pick something up on the way or at Gare Saint Lazare.
