Full description
Enjoy a small group food tour in Budapest, starting from a riverfront square with views that'll make you slow down and look. You'll follow a local guide through downtown Pest and into the Jewish Quarter, one of the city's most energetic, layered neighborhoods. The route doesn't rush. It stops at a local spot for lángos, hot, golden, and loaded with sour cream and cheese, then settles in at a restaurant run by grandfather, father, and son for goulash, smoked sausage, cold fruit soup, and a glass of sparkling grape must from the Tokaj wine region.
Along the way, your guide will unpack the stories behind the food: why paprika became the backbone of Hungarian cooking, how goulash evolved from a herdsmen’s stew into a national icon, and why Hungarians avoided clinking glasses for more than 150 years, also passing by the Jewish Quarter, through Gozsdu Court.
Morning tours continue along Andrássy Avenue, past the Neo-Renaissance Opera House, before ending with crunchy strudel, and afternoon tours walk past the mural-covered walls of Kazinczy Street, finishing with vegan beloved cottage cheese dumplings.

Reviews
Excellent guide! We learned a lot while enjoying good food.
Steve was fantastic! What a great story teller. The food was good, but I honestly expected more. We had bittetballen, mini pancakes, cheese, kapsalon and apple pie. That’s it in terms of food. I assume they counted the 4 different cheeses as different bites and the drinks (wine, coffee & ginevere). I expected more from a 10th anniversary food tour. I’ve been on many food tours and have never left hungry. This time I did.
Great tour, super guide, he was interesting, knowledgeable, and entertaining. Nice variety of cultures represented at each stop. Would have liked a little card stating the names of each item we consumed.
