Private Full-Day British Sector D-Day Tour from Bayeux

Embark on a private full-day D-Day tour from Bayeux to discover the main British Forces sites in Normandy’s British sector. Accompanied by an English‑speaking WWII expert, you travel in a comfortable, air‑conditioned vehicle and follow the story of the British landings and airborne operations that helped secure the eastern flank of the invasion.

Private & Flexible – Choose 3 to 4 Sites Only

Because this is a private tour, you choose which British D‑Day sites to focus on, but it is not possible to visit them all in one day. To keep the experience realistic and unhurried, your final itinerary will include a maximum of 3 to 4 sites from the selection below. Our travel advisors and your guide will help you pick the best combination according to your interests, pace and lunch break.

Pick-Up in Bayeux or Nearby

Your guide meets you at your accommodation in Bayeux or the surrounding area and reviews the day’s program with you. Once your 3 to 4 priority sites are confirmed, you set off towards the Normandy coastline and airborne zones that marked the start of the British D‑Day operations.

Example British D-Day Sites You Can Choose From (Pick 3–4 Max)

  • Pegasus Bridge – Follow the daring night glider assault of the 6th Airborne Division to secure the Caen Canal and Orne River bridges, crucial to protecting the left flank of the landings.

  • Merville Battery Museum – Explore the German coastal battery attacked by the 9th Parachute Battalion, and learn how its neutralization was vital for the success of Sword Beach.

  • Sword Beach – Stand where British infantry and commandos landed on the easternmost Allied beach, pushing inland to link up with the airborne troops.

  • Gold Beach – Visit the central British landing sector, where the 50th (Northumbrian) Division came ashore to move on Bayeux, Arromanches and the Longues-sur-Mer battery.

  • Arromanches – Discover the seafront village that became home to the Mulberry artificial harbor, and see the remains of the concrete caissons that made Allied resupply possible.

  • Longues-sur-Mer Battery – Walk around one of the best-preserved German artillery batteries on the coast, with original guns still in place between Omaha and Gold sectors.

A Meaningful, Realistic British Sector Experience

By limiting the day to 3 to 4 carefully chosen sites, this private British Sector D‑Day tour offers a deep yet manageable overview of the landings, from airborne operations to beach assaults and coastal defenses. With flexible pacing, expert commentary and time to ask questions and reflect, you gain a clear understanding of the British role in the Normandy Invasion before returning to Bayeux at the end of the day.

We had a wonderful experience exploring the countryside. Obernai in particular was charming and lively. The town square was magical and felt like a fairytale. The other towns were equally pretty but because it was a Sunday, most shops were closed. I think had we gone any other day more would have been available. That said, our guide Lea was outstanding. She was very knowledgeable and entertaining. The vehicle was a brand new Mercedes van and very comfortable.
