Itinerary
Meeting point. Guide will introduce him/herself to the group, give a brief summary of the tour, together with some basic point on what we are going to talk about and what we are going to see on the tour.
Pass by: Main Western entrance to the old town
We'll purchase city wall tickets, stroll the walls, and enjoy Adriatic Sea's blue hues. Your guide delves into their history: once, a single wall enclosed the Old Town after the 11th-century earth cover-up of the sea channel. Restored to its original look over time, you'll explore Fort Revelin and Minceta Tower within the walls, understanding their strategic importance. Spot Fort Lovrijenac, separate yet part of the walls, visitable post-tour. Learn of Dubrovnik's past defenses, political struggles, and diplomatic feats, ensuring its independence as a republic. Tour concludes near the port. *City Walls entrance fee not included.
The main square of the old town, several stories covered here (St.Blaise's church, Orlando's column, Sponza Palace, Small Onofrio's Fountain, Bell tower...)
On this part of the tour we take you deep into the city’s 1,400-year history, recalling ancient tales when Dubrovnik was one of the world’s most prosperous port cites. It tells tales of war and lets the tour-goer in on the culture of the city. We begin our journey through history and through Old Town. Pass the Franciscan Monastery and admire Orlando’s Column, a monument on the Stradun inspired by the city’s long-standing freedom and sovereignty. See, too, Onofrio’s Fountain, built in 1438 at the end of a 8-mile (12-km) aqueduct that gave the city its water supply. The walk also passes by the Rector’s Palace, Sponza Palace and the Cathedral of the Assumption, a baroque church built after the devastating earthquake of 1667.
This tour ends close to the old town port
