It was constructed for the 1929 Universal Exhibition and was meant to be a temporary installation, but the visitors and the people of Barcelona loved it so much that decided to keep it. We are sure that you will get fascinated too by the colourful dancing water of the fountain that every night creates magic in Barcelona.
Have a bird-eye view of Plaça d'Espanya, one of Barcelona's most important squares, built on the occasion of the 1929 International Exhibition, held at the foot of Montjuïc, in the Sants-Montjuïc district.
If you wish, you can enjoy great views of the show from the terrace of the Arenas, a former bullfighting arena nowadays transformed into a Shopping Centre where you find also plenty of options for your dinner and close to the main public transports.

Wide Ranging Guided Tour
Stephanie was a fantastic guide - so knowledgeable of the wide scope of history plus the interesting "insider" facts that make it come to life! It was only our family on the tour - seven of us ranging in age from 6-67; Stephanie made it interesting for all of us, and really made extra efforts to keep our 6yo engaged. This is a wide-ranging tour - as it was, we all clocked way more than 20,000 steps. This could easily be two tours - one of the Las Ramblas-El Raval, another of Montjuic/Olympic/Fountains. I think that timing/step/tapas-wise that would be two better tours. But if you want to see (and get a flavor of) Barcelona in one afternoon/evening, this fits the bill! And lucky for us, the Fountains are back running, and we ended the tour with a spectacular display!

We couldn't have asked for a better, warmer, more knowledge tour guide than Montse. She quickly sets you at ease with her friendly greeting and easy charm. She is the ultimate professional. She knows Barcelona and the Catalan culture, and their histories backwards and forwards, including the "cool" back stories regarding the society as it has evolved and continues to shape itself.
