Itinerary
Our first stop! Say cheese for Pão de Queijo AKA traditional cheese bread, which blends three cheeses: mozzarella, swiss and parmesan. So delicate yet crunchy… you’re thanking us already and you haven’t gone on the tour yet.
Pass by: Just a short subway ride from Manhattan, Astoria is a vibrant and unique neighborhood in Queens. It’s a cool and appealing spot, celebrated for its cultural diversity and its rich array of delicious, eclectic food options from authentic Greek cuisine to Middle Eastern fare. It’s a melting pot of cultures, and that’s not a cooking metaphor. The Doughnut Plant Russ & Daughters
Mediterranean Foods You’ll step into Greece almost literally by going into this Greek market for a sample of olives and feta cheeses. Opa!
The Corner Spot There are so many things to choose from their menu (their coffee is among the best in all of NYC), but for us, their Spinach Pie is one of the best food items in all of New York City. This delicious, savory Greek pie with phyllo dough is spectacular.
Arayes is a grilled pita filled with ground meat, onions, spices and herbs yet to just put it that way doesn’t make it sound as breathtaking as it is. Arguably the scene stealer of this tour, this Middle Eastern dish is already part of your “five-star” review for this tour. You just don’t know it yet.
Having a food experience you’ve never had before is rare. That’s where Al-Sham’s Knafeh comes in. Chances are having this traditional Arabic dessert, a spun pastry soaked in syrup and cheese, comes in. You’ve had nothing like this. Part dessert, part pizza — all everything.
Spiked ice scream FTW? You know it. We end our tour with an All American classic with a twist. Get a shot of boozy ice cream with a side of, what else, baklava. Non-Alcoholic flavors available.

Wonderful food tour of Astoria
We had a great time with Ian touring Astoria. The food -- Greek, Brazilian, Palestinian, Colombian -- was so good and so varied. Ian was knowledgeable and made everything fun and easy. And the neighborhood is amazing. We visited a gorgeous Greek Orthodox church, enjoyed graffiti murals, and took selfies in front of George Costanza's parents' home. We left with satisfied appetites and a great appreciation for the hidden wonders of Astoria! Highly recommended.
Astoria’s Culinary Passport
I had an incredible time on this food tour of Astoria! Our guide, Ian, was fantastic—warm, knowledgeable, and clearly connected to the neighborhood. It was wonderful to see how genuinely he’s welcomed at each stop; his relationships with the local restaurants added a personal touch to every tasting. The food itself was a true world tour of Astoria’s diverse cuisine, and the portions were generous—come hungry! The route was also easy to reach by Subway, which made the whole experience even more convenient. Highly recommend this tour for anyone looking to explore Queens through its flavors.
One of the Best
We're pretty familiar with Manhattan, & wanted to do the boroughs. This was excellent - lot's of very good food. Fun walking in the local Astoria neighborhood. Highly recommend this tour - & especially our guide, Dante.
The best way to get a real NYC feel- take a Nice Guys tour!
This is our 5th tour with Nice Guys and the first on their Astoria tour…it was wonderful! The variety of food was great and as always, it was plentiful. Ian was fun and knowledgeable; he made us feel like his friends who he was just showing off the best of his neighborhood. Such a fun way to learn more about the unique areas of NYC. Make time to do a Nice Guys tour when you are visiting the city!
3rd tour but definitely not the last tour!
This was our 3rd time with Nice Guy Tours and certainly won't be our last! Ian was brilliant - excellent knowledge of the area and the history of Astoria, and more importantly for us, like Dante and Adam before him on previous tours, he was a really nice guy who made us all feel at ease. The name isn't just a gimmick! He was especially great and considerate about the extra needs of our youngest son who uses a wheelchair. Highlight for us were the arayes at Duzan and finishing off at The Tipsy Scoop for some ice cream! As always, we couldn't recommend these guys highly enough and we will definitely book again for the Lower East Side, which we haven't done yet but already looking forward to! Until next time!
