How many guests can seated in the Jeep?

Accepted Answer

Our Jeeps seat 6 people total plus the driver/guide.

Jeeps are small vehicles - for everyone’s comfort, we suggest 4 adult riders per Jeep plus 2 children/teens in the smaller 3rd-row seating.

Please -we don't recommend that children or Infants under age 3 on any tour. We are not set up for rear-facing child seats. 

Please remember to bring or request the required car seat(s) for any young children.

No children seated in laps.

The 3rd row is great for older children (age 5 and up) and teens. There is more wind in the last row of seats so it is not a great seating spot for young children.

Can the route be customized? Can We get out and take photos ?

This is your tour.  Your expert tour guide will work to squeeze as much into the time reserved as possible. 

Or will go as slowly and relaxed through the city. Golden Gate Bridge, Muir woods and Sausalito as you like.

Can I be picked up at my hotel or other location?

Standard start location:
The Muir Woods and Alcatraz Combo tour begins at 2870 Hyde Street, San Francisco, at the corner of Hyde and Jefferson Streets, near the Argonaut Hotel. Guests should meet on the Hyde Street side in the white passenger loading zone.

Optional hotel pickup (additional fee):
One-way hotel pickup is available in select areas of the city:

Fisherman’s Wharf area: $15

Union Square, Nob Hill, or SoMa: $25

Hotel pickup is not available in South San Francisco or airport areas.

Important note:
Hotel drop-off after Alcatraz is not available with this combo tour.

Tour end location:
The experience concludes at Pier 33 Alcatraz Landing after the Alcatraz Island visit.

How long is the Alcatraz Island visit?

Guests should plan to spend approximately 2.5 to 3.5 hours on Alcatraz Island.

The visit includes:

A 15-minute ferry ride each way

The self-guided Alcatraz Cellhouse audio tour

Time to explore the island at a relaxed pace

Return ferries run continuously, allowing guests to choose when they’re ready to head back.

Your tour begins in Fisherman’s Wharf, where you’ll meet your guide and depart in a private open-air vehicle. You’ll cross the Golden Gate Bridge on the way to Muir Woods National Monument, where you’ll have free time to walk beneath the towering coastal redwoods at your own pace.

After Muir Woods, the tour continues with a stop at Muir Beach Overlook for Pacific Ocean views, followed by a scenic drive through Sausalito. You’ll also stop in the Marin Headlands for panoramic Golden Gate Bridge photo opportunities.
