Traveler reviews
Worth the hours
Great to see the Jail become a top tourist spot. Worth the ₹300 entry fee. Excellent history covered and keep a few hours spare so you can explore the whole Jail
Interesting history of Fort Aguada
This tour of Fort Aguada was very interesting. Angelina took us through all the history, why the fort was built and how the freedom fighters were jailed here. It was a great tour
Great tour
Did a night tour of the fort, was very good and we learnt a lot about the history of the place, our guide aka hay was very good.
Excellent tour of Goa's history linked to Aguada Jail.
I had been to the Fort Aguada area a few decades ago and hearing about the Jail and its museum, I decided to go with my neighbour’s children who had not been there. We booked this tour and found our guide Niranjan Parshuraman Harijan waiting for us. We were the sole members in the tour. Niranjan is a young arts graduate, with excellent clear English diction, very knowledgeable about Goa and the history of the Forts in the area. He began with a short intro about himself, asked us about ourselves and then, which I really liked, he related tons of information for the next one hour in a very informal, empathetic manner, asking us questions about various subjects / issues linked to the tour and then answering them if we did not know. He told us about each of the forts, the local history linked to the Portugese invaders, the life under them, the details of the jail and its water sources etc. Never patronising, always friendly and informative. It was a very hot day, temp over 35 degs, and we walked from one end of the Jail to the other where in Cell # 1 he showed the statue of Shri Lohia. We went all over the premises and as we were part of a tour, we were allowed to see special cells opened for us only. I think Niranjan did a great job… Thank you. There are quite a few interactive exhibit rooms – special sections on The Land, The People, The Communities, The Freedom Struggle etc. Each exhibit has detailed information in English. The interactive exhibits allow much more data to be seen – the one on the communities and surnames was most interesting. Overall, the tour is definitely worth taking as its interesting and well designed.
Highly recommend
Booked this through Tripadvisor with make it happen. It’s the second tour we’ve done with them since we’ve been in Goa. I highly recommend it’s a great tour. Very interesting. The guide was 10 out of 10. very informative and easy to understand.
