Itinerary
Your private guide will take you on a journey through one of the most famous sites in Sicily, and an outstanding example of ancient Greek architecture. Begin your experience and visit the Temple of Juno built in 450BC, which offers stunning views of the temples below.
Next you'll visit the Temple of Concordia and learn about the various uses it had throughout the Roman Empire.
The next stop is Villa Aurea where you will enjoy its lush gardens, like an oasis of the valley. It was once the residence of famous British archeologist, Sir Alexander Hardcastle, who led the excavation work of these temples.
The next temple to visit is the Temple of Hercules - a famous hero of Greek mythology known to most, and considered the most ancient of the temples in the valley. Your last stop will be the Temple of Castor and Pollux, where you can enjoy many statues still intact, and the four columns known as the symbol of Agrigento.

Traveler reviews
Lorenzo was an amazing...
Lorenzo was an amazing guide who made the area come to life. He was knowledgeable and personable. Our 12 year-old son was engaged and thought this was the best tour of our entire 10-day trip to Italy!
Greek temples brought to life by a delightful guide
With our dear friends and traveling companions, the Chiltons, we had the good fortune to tour Sicily's Valley of the Temples with the wonderful Ilaria. She told us she had been doing this tour (among others) for just over 20 years and she still loves it. She loves the place (who wouldn't? it is grand and peaceful at the same time), the history, and the people she meets. Ilaria explained how the fortification wall around the temple mount had been the burial place of nobles, a fact we were entirely ignorant of, and she had a notebook of illustrations that were critical to learning how these massive chunks of golden limestone were quarried, transported, assembled, and finished on site. Ilaria was very honest when we asked a question to which there is no (as yet) known answer. That is what makes a tour of such a site so evocative! Perhaps the answer will come in our lifetimes...or not. What was most impactful was the realization that these temples housed images of the gods, were visited by an extremely small elite of priests, and that no ordinary human being ever entered them. Beyond the astounding subject matter of the tour of the Valley of the Temples, I want to say that the temperament of a guide is a most important factor in a pleasant experience! Ilaria is warm, has a wonderful sense of humor, is a keen judge of the interest of her visitors and the extent of their physical energy, and an excellent communicator. We wished we could have taken her along for the rest of our journey! Thank you, Ilaria!!
